Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 6:23 pm PDT, the new moon in Pisces is exact at 28 degrees 27 minutes. The Sabian symbol for 29 Pisces is “A Prism”. The Creator, the Source light differentiating into its full spectrum — the one becoming many, unity revealing its hidden complexity. Light does not diminish as it passes through the prism. It reveals itself fully every color that was always present, always whole, now made visible. This new moon asks the same of us. What spectrum of truth is being refracted through you right now?
The Musician Who Has Done the Work
Imagine a musician. Not the beginner fumbling through scales, not the intermediate player still counting beats. The master. The one who has spent years in discipline and devotion to the craft. Who knows the instrument so intimately that the boundary between body and sound has dissolved. Who has sat with **Virgo’s sacred discipline**: the endless repetition, the meticulous attention, the willingness to begin again, and again, and again, in service of something true. Right now as I write this new moon blog I’m listening to Mozart, Lucio Silla, K. 135: Overture performed by the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra. Mozart is one of my favorites. Humans should tune into classical pieces more often, it may be the bridge to the unity for which many souls yearn. Perhaps I am connecting this piece for the symbolism and meaning within the name Lucio Silla (light threshold or in other lens = Seat of Light, or light heap (as in a pile up). An interesting layer of insight when it is the music piece of my present moment as I write to share thoughts on this Pisces new moon that is symbol is a PRISM, where pure light through a prism shows the multitude of colors, all united in the one, but revealed through LIGHT. Adding the layers of insight from the Roman dictator ‘s history the opera was an inspired story. Mozart composed Lucio Silla at age 16. The theme of the opera is actually quite appropriate for this moment in our collective history (Pisces), another lens that reveals the repeating patterns of our deeper histories and our borrowed structures as a Republic (USA).
The present moment for me reveals itself in layers like this often. Are you present to observe these intricacies? This sharing illustrates the Virgo (details) and Pisces (flow, container of all).
This new moon rises with a Virgo on the Ascendant at 18 degrees 28 minutes in the Pacific Northwest. The chart itself rises in the sign of the healer, the devoted servant, the one who does the work. The body of the musician, (the body layer in mind-soul-body). The years of practice held in the hands, in the breath, in the muscle memory of ten thousand mornings at the instrument.
And then, the new moon chart opens. Across the horizon, in the 7th house of the other, a stellium of planets constellating in Pisces. The Sun. The Moon. Mars. Mercury retrograde. Pallas Athena. Vesta. The North Node. Seven presences, all submerged in the sign of the mystic, the dreamer, the one who dissolves into something larger than the self.
This is the moment the musician stops playing and begins to flow.
This is what mastery opens for us. Not the abandonment of skill, but its transcendence. The craft becomes invisible. What remains is pure transmission. The fingers find the notes before the mind does. The music arrives before the thought of music. Virgo built the vessel; Pisces is what pours through it. I ponder our reality , and I wonder if it is possible we are hiding our mastery of something of our BEING, our FLOW for this moment.
Are you in that place of flow? Are you still gripping the instrument, still trying to control the sound?
Mercury Crosses the Threshold
Here is where this new moon delivers its most extraordinary gift and its most urgent invitation.
Mercury, the ruler of Virgo, the ruler of this new moon chart Ascendant (for PNW), is retrograde at 8 degrees 38 minutes of Pisces in the 7th house. The voice, the lens of perception of this new moon, the planet that carries its message, IS NOT in the practice room. Mercury has crossed the threshold and walked into the presence of the other. *Washington DC has a Libra rising for the new moon in Pisces, with Venus in Aries on the Descendant, noting the symbolism tied to women. Themes out of the nation’s capital for the month will be polarized or magnetized on women and women’s themes and the wounds of the individual identity of selfhood for the right to individual existence as one is.
And in Pisces, retrograde, Mercury is not broadcasting. It is not performing. It is listening. Feeling into the space between two people. Dissolving the membrane that separates what I experience from what you experience. Mercury in Pisces retrograde moves through the emotional field the way a musician’s ear moves through a room picking up what is unspoken, what is aching, what is longing to be heard beneath the surface of the noise.
This is empathic perception at its highest expression. Not sympathy — the safe observation of another’s pain from across a distance. But empathy — the willingness to enter the experience of the other. To feel what they feel. To let it move through you.
The master musician does this. She looks up from the instrument and sees the face in the front row — the grief there, the longing there, the particular weight of a particular life and lets that redirect the fingers. The music becomes not performance, but compassion in sound. The craft, now fully in service of the other.
This is what Mercury in the 7th house of Pisces is asking of us all. This is the richness of unity in this new moon in Pisces.
Even Those We Have Named Enemy
Let us not look away from the full depth of this invitation.
The 7th house in astrology holds not only our beloved partners and closest companions. It holds the open enemy. The one across the table. The one whose positions feel incomprehensible to us, whose choices feel threatening, whose very existence in our field can trigger the hardening of our hearts.
The North Node is at 8 degrees Pisces, conjunct Mercury, in the 7th house. This is our compass needle for North. The soul’s collective direction, the evolutionary calling of humanity at this moment — is here. In this house. With this planet. In this sign.
We are being called, collectively, to bring our compassion and our empathic wisdom into the space of the other. Even the other we have named enemy. Especially that one.
Pisces dissolves the boundary between self and other entirely. In the deepest waters of this sign, there is no enemy. There is only the shared ocean. The same water moving through different vessels. The same longing for dignity, for belonging, for safety, for love expressing itself through wildly different languages, different histories, different wounds.
Pallas Athena at 17 degrees Pisces, the warrior of wisdom, the one who sees patterns no one else can see, is also in these waters. But Pallas in Pisces does not win through opposition. She wins through understanding. Through seeing the pattern in the other that mirrors the pattern in yourself. Through recognizing that the intensity of your reaction to the enemy often reveals something about your own unintegrated shadow.
The musician who can play for the one who hurt them, that is mastery. That is this new moon.
Mars at 12 degrees Pisces — the planet of action, of will, of doing — is also dissolved in these waters. Mars in Pisces does not charge. It flows. It moves with inspiration. It surrenders to something larger than personal agenda. It acts in alignment with the current rather than against it. This is action rooted in compassion. Service as movement. The bow meets the string not in conquest, but in offering.
The Prism of the Collective
This is not a quiet or private new moon. It is a bowl chart, with all planetary energies concentrated in one hemisphere — held, intentional, gestating. And at the leading edge of that bowl, a powerful symbol of collective energy in deep transformation is Pluto at 4 degrees 58 minutes of Aquarius.
Pluto in Aquarius: the deep transformation of collective consciousness. The dismantling of the systems that no longer serve the whole. The power of community, of the group mind, of what emerges when individuals remember they are part of something larger. Pluto leads this new moon’s energy into the world. What we seed in these waters does not stay private. It moves into the collective field.
We are each a prism. The light of this new moon passes through us, through our particular history, our particular wounds and gifts, our particular relationships and refracts into the world as something specific, something colored, something ours. And yet the light itself is one. The source is one.
The dominant energy of this chart is mutable and water, twelve placements in mutable signs, ten in water. We are in a time of extraordinary fluidity. Of our transition between forms. Of the old dissolving and the new not yet fully visible. Do not try to force a fixed outcome from this lunar cycle. Do not grip. Flow. Trust. Feel.
Are you allowing what needs to dissolve to dissolve?
Jupiter Holds the Room
Jupiter at 15 degrees Cancer, high in the chart, arcing towards the Midheaven. The great amplifier in the sign of the mother, the nurturer, the keeper of home and belonging. Jupiter here is the concert hall itself — the space that receives the music, that holds it, the safe and exalted container that allows it to expand and resonate and land in the hearts of those gathered.
The audience. The community. The collective of receivers. Jupiter in Cancer amplifies the feeling and our belonging. It expands the capacity of the room to receive what the musician is offering. Every note played in compassion lands more deeply when Jupiter in Cancer opens the heart of the listener.
Zeus Ζεύς exalted in Cancer — the greatest power held in the sign of the mother, of the moon, of the feminine principle. The masculine at its most powerful when it operates in full honoring of the feminine. The giving in full honoring of the receiving. The music is full honoring the silence between notes.
Who are your people right now? Who are you playing for? Who is holding the space for your music to be heard?
The New Fire Flowing to the Horizon
Just beyond the Pisces waters, a new element is igniting. Saturn at 3 degrees Aries and Neptune at 1 degree Aries are newly arrived in the sign of fire, of self, instinctual nature, of the pioneer. The great conjunction of structure and dream, now in the very first degrees of the zodiac’s beginning point.
What new dream of self is being born? What new structure for the soul is being created? Saturn and Neptune together in Aries is not a comfortable pairing — it is a creative tension. The dream must be made real. The vision must be given form. The music must eventually leave the practice room and walk into the world.
Venus at 15 degrees Aries and Chiron at 24 degrees Aries continue the healing work in this sign of initiated selfhood. The wounded healer is still tending the wounds of the self — of identity, of courage, of the willingness to be seen. Venus in Aries loves with directness and fire. Are you loving yourself with that same directness? Are you giving yourself the same compassion you are being asked to extend to the enemy at the table?
Uranus at 28 degrees Taurus symbolizes the earth still speaking in its long language of disruption and breakthrough. The voice of the body, the voice of the land, the voice of what we truly value beneath the noise of what we are told to value. We are in the final weeks leading up to April 24th Uranus into Gemini. How are you using your voice? In love or in fear? What are you co-creating with your words in this moment of great collective transition?*
Carry Over from the Eclipse Season
Each new moon carries the momentum of what has preceded it. The Lunar Eclipse of March 3, 2026, called forth the Rainbow Warriors — those who could hold their call to action with both clarity and compassion. That eclipse opened a portal of accountability, of pattern recognition, of seeing historical cycles repeating in the present moment.
This new moon asks: now that you have seen the pattern, now that you have answered the call — can you soften? Can you bring what you know into a relationship with the one across from you, rather than wielding it as a weapon? Can the warrior become the musician?
The spiral continues. The pattern does not resolve in a single lunation. Evolution is the purpose. And evolution requires that we integrate what has come before into a wider, more compassionate understanding of what is becoming.
Key Dates for This Lunar Cycle:
Watch for these energetic touch points as the month unfolds.
March 18 – The Moon moves through the Pisces stellium. The seed is planted. Rest in the waters. Intentions set now carry the full weight of the North Node’s evolutionary calling.
March 20 – Sun Aries ingress, the astrological new year begins at 0 degrees Aries. 7:46 am PDT
March 20 – Mercury Retrograde — continue your inner listening. What is returning to your awareness? What conversation needs to happen differently? What have you not yet truly heard? What are you receiving in the stillness? Mercury stationing direct occurs on March 20 within hours of the Sun’s Aries ingress. This amplifies Mercury’s meaning and heightened importance as it is standing still in the heavens within the context of the symbolism for the entire year (at least one season until the summer solstice chart provides us layered themes), as the Aries’ ingress is used in mundane astrology.
March 30 – Venus moving through Aries review and reflect on Venus conjunctions with Saturn and Neptune as she carries the feminine principle from the new fire. Love as initiation. Love as courage. Venus will enter Taurus on March 30th one day before the Full Moon in Libra.
April 9 – Mars enters Aries.
The spring equinox is only two days from now. Everything initiates movement of the new in the flow.

The Full Moon approaching on April 1, 2026, at 7:12 pm PDT, is the crescendo and illumination on what this new moon has seeded.
An Invitation
The master musician does not play to be heard. She plays so that the one in the front row, whoever they are, whatever they carry, wherever they fall on the spectrum of those we call ally or enemy feels less alone.
This is the music between us. Not the performance. Not perfection. Not the virtuosity for its own sake. The transmission of compassion through the vessel of craft, offered freely, across the distance that divides.
The prism does not create the colors. It simply allows what was always whole to become visible.
We are the prism. What light is moving through you this new moon?
Honor your body, the instrument that carries the music. Feed it what is pure and true.
Honor your mind, let it rest in the stillness between notes. Not every knowing arrives in words.
Honor your spirit, you are not separate from the ocean. You never were.
Bless the music between us.
Namaste. Bless this moment.
