Solar Eclipse in Libra: October 2, 2024 – Surrendering Old Patterns While Reaffirming Expression to Create Stronger Unions

 

Wednesday, October 2, 2024, we have a new moon solar eclipse at 10 degrees 3 minutes Libra brings us to searching for balance with so much out of harmony.  The sign of Libra and this solar eclipse on the south node of the moon at 6 degrees 16 minutes has themes of surrendering something in relationships as things and life get redefined.  This moon and sun are applying to a square with Mars in Cancer at 15 degrees 46 minutes, so whatever conflict has surfaced consider the perception and reality of power dynamics of the relationship.  With the North Node in Aries there is something that we are striving for about our independence and simultaneously seeking a sense of security within ourselves. Relationships are more balanced in harmony with individuals who are authentic to their self in full expression. This eclipse is an invitation for us to look at how we lean into independence, what we do daily to have the freedom and courage to act and express ourselves in ways that are core to the center of our being. The desire for greater independence or self expression may be great, but the environmental conditions and emotional intelligence for it to be real are presently challenging to achieve.  It may take additional courage and determination to achieve a greater harmony and balance desired within a relationship more rooted in inter-dependence. Perhaps there is something that is hidden in your subconscious that blocks you from creating the reality as you desire. There is perhaps something blocking emotionally (Mars in Cancer) that needs to be awakened and navigated through to a new experience. Consider asking this question of yourself – “How safe do I feel stating my individual opinion on this matter? What does it reveal to you about where you might hide away parts of yourself because you do not feel safe expressing that to anyone, or even close people in your life?

Jupiter supports this solar eclipse sun and moon from Gemini (21 degrees) for expanding the conversation, inviting us to get new insights through new information we did not have and prompts us to stay curious and present. It is a reminder from the universe that our childlike curiosity is a loving approach to overcome insecurities, when we play we are more loving and open to consider different points of view. Jupiter supporting the Sun within the element of air reveals there is a value in connecting socially that the planetary transits of this eclipse reveal lead to greater connection, even if something is surrendered that naturally comes with south node solar eclipse energy. Keep in mind that the thing you surrender could just as well be something that you have carried in your mind about relationships for years, or an issue that gives you the rub on something within a relationship that you benefit greater when you drop it in order to grow. If you do not, then you will set yourself up for a repeat, when really you truly want to evolve so it does not bring a stinger the next time you are confronted with it. Jupiter is slowing this week to station retrograde on October 9th (Wednesday) at 21 degrees 20 minutes of Gemini.

Ceres is the asteroid symbolism of the feminine of earth’s fertility and harvest, the cornucopia. At this eclipse Ceres is opposite Mars in Cancer, and square with the solar eclipse sun and moon that creates a tension that can feel overwhelming. Ceres in Capricorn is about the foundations that hold us that feed and nourish us. Not just the food that we gather to our homes for our nutrition, but also the connections of people, our networks that feed us in a variety of ways as participants of our larger community. When we foster all the various relationships that feed us, there is a flow of reciprocity that is opened via the feminine energies that support your life. Consider how often you nurture your different relationships. Taking meaningful action (Mars), even a simple notecard of positive inspiration, or an act of kindness that eases the burden of another to be of service knowing the wisdom and truth of the universal law of compensation. Perhaps the most powerful reminder I can offer here is these words of remembering your uniqueness that the world enjoys and blooms brighter with your presence, that gratitude, at the core of it all amplifies love flows for so much into our world.

Mercury in Libra at 11 degrees and Venus in Scorpio at 11 degrees are in the blind spot. Venus is more efficient with its trine with Mars in Cancer (action through care) and Saturn in Pisces (discipline or devotion). It’s hard to stay in conflict when we show up in caring kindness. How might you embody that in your life this next month? Feelings of betrayal on something may still emerge at this eclipse because there is an unconscious shadow that needs light to realize love is present. 

Saturn in Pisces continues retrograde through Pisces making a squared tension (crisis to overcome) that lands on our nerves and can end up as emotional inner turbulence and feeling the tension in back aches or perhaps melancholy. Saturn in Pisces can also be the devoted hermit in meditation, the wise elder that understands the truth of the inner plane and mind and sits with diligence in meditation. Be the wise one knowing that the greater one has inner calm the greater one may simply be, even in times of uncertainty and worldly upsets.

Neptune in Pisces continues to amplify and dissolve long observed grand illusions that are falling.  The boundaries of our separateness are as thin as a gossamer. Neptune in Pisces is our collective experience of the expanse of and awareness of other realms, the magnificent scale of it all.  It continues to dissolve blocks for those that have done spiritual work, seeking truth about mind, body, and spirit, and how consciousness continues to open and reveal us to ourselves and our relationships that are reflected in the heavens are more prepared for the veils that are dropping. So much is dissolving now as Neptune over the next two years will finish its transit of Pisces before staying in Aries after its first ingress March 31, 2025. While retrograde in 2025, Neptune will reveal even more truth about what is dissolving so the new era can emerge when Saturn and Neptune begin a new synodic cycle in February 2026.  There is an opportunity to know something deeper and with unique meaningful life events that each soul gathers along the path experiencing the universal truths so many have read, studied, and pondered.

Uranus in Taurus at 26 degrees 51 minutes is retrograde. Venus in Scorpio is applying and will be opposite October 14th, but will feel intense days prior and days after the exact opposition. Little earthquakes will continue in our lives related to how stable we feel until Uranus leaves Taurus and enters Gemini April 26, 2026. Uranus through each sign is approximately 7 years, so a full circle around the zodiacal wheel takes 84 years. While Uranus has been in Taurus we will have surprises, chaos on supply lines that may be connected to our essential needs for life (food). It also shows us where there is volatility in our currencies for our exchange of goods and services. When Uranus entered Taurus on May 15, 2018, and with heightened volcanic activity and major changes in landscape on the big island of Hawai’i. Nature reminds us of our inner nature.  We have an inner zodiac and our bodies, the vehicle for our spirit to have a third dimension experience are bound by the laws of nature. We are part of the whole, to even consider for a moment that we are not part of the whole is a betrayal to the deepest truth in life. Truthfully, everyday is earth day, not just one day a year. Free your mind the illusion that you are separated from the wholeness of life, from Gaia. Without essential minerals in your body from the earth, you would perish. How do you get your essentials of calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, chloride, magnesium, iron, zinc, iodine, chromium, copper, fluoride, molybdenum, manganese, and selenium?  With Uranus in Taurus what patterns in energy are altering or demanding new levels of nutrients for our physical reality that is the vehicle for our spiritual?

Pluto in Capricorn at 29 degrees 39 minutes is in the final phase of the transformation of systems of power that have held us for over 15 years facing the shadows of our collective systems since Pluto entered Capricorn on January 25, 2008. Definitely years of strong lessons for us all.  Failed infrastructure such as bridges and roads that did not have proper maintenance, updated materials and care were reminders of what happens when our systems that we have collectively created fail. That is an example of infrastructure that we need for our communities to operate together, but there are other structures and foundations of power. There is our ideology of our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, our working government, our systems of power from the executive office to the senate and house representatives, to our judicial system, all these systems have also been changed during this period of time. Consider what has transpired and shifted across the three branches of our government over the last 15 years.  Judicial branch has had massive shifts which will be reflected (via cause and effect) in our future. Everything is a lesson in impermanence. What appears to be solid in foundation can experience times of great change that alter directions of collective intentions. Take a moment to consider the changes of just our Supreme Court between who was on it in 2008 and who is now sitting within those precious seats of our highest court of law.

This solar eclipse in Libra has harsh tones, things to overcome and manage through, but not without purpose. Life can be challenging, sometimes we can feel like we are wading through so much emotionally, if not literally, but it is when we come together to support, to give attention, to bear witness, to embrace, to love that the challenges are eased, and life continues.
