The new moon in Leo today, July 24, 2025, at 12:11 pm PDT at 2 Leo 8 minutes starts a new month that brings an intense exact opposition with Pluto in Aquarius at 2 degrees. This lunar month we have Mercury retrograde in Leo (13 degrees) transiting again the mid and early degrees of Leo activating the child archetype and the heart. Both the child archetype and themes around the heart are in an intense stand off position. Today and tomorrow will have some seed that will have more illumination as we reach the full moon on August 9th (full moon in Aquarius at 17 degrees). Leo is a sign of fixed fire, what seems like it is profoundly fixed in nature is going through a metamorphosis. A death of the ego for some will be how this is experienced.

Mars in Virgo in a conjunction (now separating) is both courage with facts and details, but more likely a tricky line to navigate as south node is about loss, our perception of that loss, because Mercury in retrograde has an added theme of what is being given up and released as part of a visible role that one plays. All this energy on the south node and with Mercury as a key planet by rulers of Virgo (south node) comes out as “Rewrite the script!” Sometimes the themes of a lunation just jump off the page. How are we going to rewrite the script of our reality?
Part of rewriting the script requires insights into how we build rapport with others. Venus in Gemini at 22 degrees squares Mars in Virgo and the lunar nodes. Our conversations while bonding will be the release valves of frustration with reality as it has been in recent weeks. Mars provides the agitation, we have to decide what way we want to speak for not just our present moment but also that which is in the process of becoming real. High resistance is part of this new moon. Expect July and early August to continue to heat us up emotionally. Good old fashioned too much pride will have a peak moment before the fall. As well as the visible flow of consequences for decisions and choices made when ego was truly inflated. The bill comes due. The east coast will have Mars and the south node in the angular 10th house and is very public.
Jupiter in Cancer at 10 degrees reveals our safe places will be increasingly important for nurturing our souls. Jupiter in Cancer has this new moon energy ripe with potential empathy. Definitely a protective nature in flow. We both receive and give that potential. Where in your life is your protective instinct? If you are receiving protective space from another, where do they receive theirs?
Saturn and Neptune are both in Aries and retrograde at 1 degrees, both in a trine aspect (easy flow) for this new moon. Saturn, the planet of duty, responsibility and authority coupled with Neptune of confusion, delusion, and its capacity for a wipeout within the psyche when “too much” of some other element or planetary archetype is emphasized, as Saturn is in this moment. Neptune reveals eventually the far reaching impressions and impacts of something in our material world, with another worldly impression.
Uranus in Gemini at 1 degrees is sextile this new moon and adds the electrical buzz of the energy, especially radicalization and revolutionary ideas and movement. We can see that play out this month and how quickly it may gain speed with the transformational energy of Pluto in Aquarius in the trine aspect. Sometimes bigger movements start with one small flicker of the change that connects in just the right moment to send it quickly into bigger waves of response. There are two planetary aspects of trines in this new moon, one in fire and one in air, which means just as powerful as it sounds because when you give oxygen to the changing power of fire it grows and it moves quickly. Observe how this appears in our material world with what is happening right now on local, national and global events and how it moves or inspires your actions and response. Consider the power of creating protective barriers for your safe keeping (mentally, emotionally, spiritually and even physically) and the ways that our everyday heroes make barriers for actual fires. There is work you may need to do to protect the spheres of your well-being. If you have not already been minding those barriers you will have a more intense month to protect those safe places that hold you and your spirit in this physical material world.
