Tuesday, January 12, 2021, we have a new moon in Capricorn at 9:00 pm PST, at 23 degrees 13 minutes. (January 13 for EST). This new moon will mark one year since the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn that set so much into motion that we are still wading through across the globe. This new moon also happening less than a full degree from that conjunction exact spot. If you are in a reflective mood and want to read back on that month’s astrology you will find it here.
Take into consideration Saturn is now transiting through Aquarius, the next evolution of the momentum of things that have erupted recently and has been brewing for many months is ripe for 2021 and will overflow right into 2022. Reminder, the Pluto return is exact February 21, 2022, for the United States. This is in the USA’s house of money, but more importantly in the house of our collective values. We are deep into the shadow cycle to heal it. How will you participate if you live in the United States? If you have friends living here? What will you encourage the collective soul in shedding the old paradigm of values that have restricted real humanitarian growth?
One significant action is to educate ourselves through books on historical themes (this is a good moment for reflecting our collective history) that have been arising since the civil war from a macro perspective. The themes will highlight the scars on the underbelly of our history in relation to the issues of equality within our society. This moment is highlighting once again what we really ARE in this moment what IS showing up that evokes our negative emotion or response is the very thing we need to heal, give attention to, really work to heal it. Of course, that is easier said than done! What will that take to heal? Meaningful conversations, true change related to our police that train our public servicemen and women how to recognize and deal with a bias toward race, how laws have restricted property ownership in our history for diverse people, and how we can make it better in our communities at the county level, state level and then how that reflects nationally. Of course, we can offer prayers for our collective healing but do know that action really is the invitation here to create the change required. Meditation for hearing within for your own evolution within the context of these themes. This wound runs so deep it is hurting all of us. It strikes us down because we battle this from within. The conflicts will reveal part of that storyline of the collective shadow to be healed. It will not be an easy endeavor. It will require education, asking really hard questions, and having the courage to look at some things many in our collective do not want to see, nor acknowledge.
In addition to the shadow work (Pluto) that is significant for the collective group of souls in the United States right now is also the psychic wipe out. Neptune is the wipeout experience when you do not see the tidal wave coming and even if you kind of see it, the size of its transformational power is quite illusory, until it has touched you directly on the inner plane, and some folks on the outer plane when the life or belief structures they have built over time go through wipe out.
The closer either the lunar nodes (transiting or natal) or Neptune in Pisces are on an individual level to angles, important planets give it context in the person’s lived experience (areas of life, for example, the houses) or by Solar Arc will manifest. For some, it may be a spiritual experience, so it is not always a negative, as with anything it is relative. If you are curious to explore your chart and current transits to better understand how mutable signs are reflected in your experience, I offer readings for your self-discovery.
Neptune in Pisces right now is square the lunar nodes of the moon. North Node Gemini (duality, information, data, communications, local environments, and more) and South Node in Sagittarius (beliefs, idealism, religious dogma, philosophy, traditional education systems, foreign travel, and more). Neptune is dissolving boundaries of thought structures, perception structures, and belief structures, and is experienced as the illusion that has kept a belief going, but the reality drops in when it releases the wave. It is overwhelming for most when that is experienced so profoundly. Some souls go the escapism route and the consequences of too much of it are in this new moon moment combination too. Some will not be able to accept what is factual and present in the situation and the mirroring back will be rather cataclysmic in nature.
Remember the last New Moon cycle began with a solar eclipse (Dec 14, 2020) at 23 degrees of Sagittarius and that is still significant and manifesting the losses, the wipeouts, the frenzy of idealism, because that was when the recent events of early January were expressed and experienced within that lunar cycle. Eclipses carry out over a few months. The moon (people) eclipsed the Sun in Sagittarius (legislative branch), which was dynamic early this month. Neptune in Pisces overwhelming the borders, the breach that we observed in the headlines and newsfeeds. So, what comes next?
I have been writing and teaching others for years about this long cycle. While I am hopeful for change (on the larger stage of life) and focus on that with optimism (I am a Sagittarius Sun with a tight trine to my Aries Ascendant, optimism is in my DNA). I remind you that anything connected in the symbolism of a Saturn transit (especially Capricorn and Aquarius) will take a good amount of time to reveal the fullness of it. Anyone who has recently completed their Saturn returns (in Capricorn no less) will really understand what I am communicating here.
This year (2021) has many pitfalls for people who will face authority (Capricorn and Aquarius different archetypes) in some way with consequences if there is a lack of knowing and following rules of engagement for civil order (related to governments both local and national). Not just the USA, but each country has its own chart of origin. So much transpires related to decisions and reactions to those in authority, those ruling, and we perceive in Capricorn symbolism. It is what is visible in our government facing massive challenges, upheavals, and the need to deal with it directly, intelligently, and firmly, also understanding how we got to this level of upheaval over the history.
Another planetary body, Eris (which has about a 500-year orbit around our Sun), is in the sign of Aries and does have symbolism within this raging energy against the government. Eris is important, but I do not mention its symbolism much due to how big the cycle is. Right now is stationing direct too. It is subtle but rather important in the mix when you consider that it is squaring Pluto in Capricorn. Any time something triggers that square it can be lit up quickly with deep transformation attached to the eventual outcome. So, when the Sun reaches that degree in Aries this April 2021 you will notice that square being igniting once again. The balsamic moon and new moon in Aries will be dynamic. Then later in the fall in mid-October.
It has deep roots. Go back to pre-civil war history, for some of it, and even further back if you want to include the real archetypal energy of the Pluto return – more on that subject soon (relative to USA Pluto Return). But globally I think valid too, because the USA has allies, trade partners, and more so what is happening here does influence a larger population. Our sh*t hitting the fan does not just involve us alone in some vacuum. Especially significant in the United States, but around the globe, there will be continued rules of how people operate in their daily lives and then how that ripples into economics and education and more.
Social distancing will continue to be the case for a while as we deal with the pandemic broadly. It will take time (Saturn) to manage the distribution (Gemini/Sagittarius) of coming vaccines and the education to assist in that process. It will take time to deal with concerned individuals who have inaccurate information or false information to regain our footing on public health in our collective society – again I am speaking across the globe, though the United States will take longer for various issues to deal with the volume of people (about 328 million), an unsettled population that distrusts authority, and the variables due to the unique governments of states and more.
It will take time for many to feel that the transformation (moving toward the lifting out, experienced viscerally for some) is settling in, but that is fixed energy, however, Uranus transiting in Taurus is our wild card. Uranus reflects the disruptions and unexpected turns of the Aquarian themed efforts when Jupiter and Saturn by square are applying to exact and then fall away. Jupiter and Saturn will have moments of air trines during 2021 which will be relief valves, the chance for socializing more is returning albeit with caveats.
Mars keeps the tensions high transiting now with Uranus, square to Mercury, Saturn, and Jupiter in Aquarius. Later this year when Mars reaches Leo it will be another perspective with oppositions with Saturn, but then square to Uranus. So, it really will be a roller-coaster with ups and downs in the fixed signs for a lot of 2021. There will be some settling down that will come naturally with improvements in certain areas of our daily lives, but at the same time there will be adjustments that must be made for individuals with their larger world related to governments, privacy laws, currencies, investments, land, personal possessions or property, technology, systems, technical or scientific process are all within the symbolism of Aquarius and Taurus, Leo later in the summer will be dynamic for leaders, highly visible individuals, and opposing themes. Plans (Capricorn/Aquarius) are being drawn up, but not yet executable given our current situation in the United States around changing power. Some things cannot yet be placed on the road to transformation until that happens. Mars and Uranus in Taurus interruptions are the immediate focus for authorities to strategize for the unexpected that is now in full view. WHAT this fully is, truly is unpredictable simply with Uranus in the aspects so tightly.
This new moon cycle is when that transformation BEGINS. To be clear the archetypes of this new moon show volatility of unknowns with Mars applying to conjunct Uranus in Taurus while in a square with Saturn, Jupiter, and Mercury. It will be wise to stay centered and unplug from the wave of tensions and conflicts if you feel overwhelmed. Focus on your environment, your family, and what gives you a sense of peace. It is wise to stay informed but be mindful of your well-being first and foremost. Mars in square to Saturn from Aries on January 6th igniting the fiery actions the breached the US capitol, but once Mars entered Taurus it all started to crumble quickly for one leader, one that lost their mediums that extended their reach. It is not over yet, this series of events is still operating in the archetypes – coming online in the transits Mercury squares Uranus at 7:00 am PST on January 12th, communications and systems are in the crosshairs for disruptions, accidents (air travel especially, and trains). Any systems and Mercury-ruled people, companies, and more will experience this interruption. Uranus in Taurus may also manifest as land disturbances that unfold a break in the communications or systems of communications. That square is perfected BEFORE the new moon, but will likely manifest for many in that morning as the moon is finishing the last cycle! Reread the detail on the new moon eclipse on December 14 if you want to recall it.
This new moon happens in Capricorn tonight at 9:00 pm PST, then at 11:22 pm, the moon conjoins Pluto in Capricorn before moving void of course. There will be something truly sobering in our collective reality within that time frame and into Wednesday morning. On January 13th Mars square Saturn (in fixed signs of Taurus and Aquarius) 3:02 am PST (6:02 am EST), so the morning news headlines will be full of conflicts and highly stressful information. Moon enters Aquarius at 8:44 am PST and reaching Saturn by 2:11 pm PST, then the moon squares Mars in Taurus at 2:30 pm PST. Venus in Capricorn will exact the trine (easy flow) to Uranus in Taurus. Is that new information that will help millions of people with the stimulus finally being made available? There will be more with that Venus trine Uranus that relates to resources and support, likely voiced by a feminine authority in the collective.
Later the moon in Aquarius on Wednesday (January 13) will conjunct Jupiter at 6:55 pm PST before moving to a square with Uranus at 8:29 pm PST. So, given all the astrological aspects landing on this NEW MOON Day (for the East coast), I recommend adding extra time into meditation, prayer, a long soaker bath for my friends who are heavy with the water elements in your charts. It is going to be a stressful day. Keep perspective with objectivity, the moon when it moves into Aquarius will be easier to do so.
By Thursday (12:36 am PST) Uranus stations direct and sharpness (an edge of something unfolding) will be felt then that highlights something that may be quite shocking, but it may come when the moon makes contact on the 13th. The moon will conjoin Mercury in Aquarius at 1:28 am PST and by 6:19 am PST the Sun will conjoin Pluto in Capricorn (24 degrees and 38 minutes). When the sun conjoins Pluto there is the potential of the transitioning of authority and power that can be realized. Even though we are eight days from the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, we might see something rather uniquely different and reveal about the power in the United States in this next week (beyond what we have already observed). Inauguration day has some really challenging astrological aspects happening. I will write more on that day coming later this week. The full moon is in Leo at 9 degrees 6 minutes on January 28, 2021, the same day the Sun is conjunct Jupiter. It is a most interesting and stressful time in our collective history.
The Sabian symbol of the degree for this new moon (24 Capricorn) is – A woman entering a convent. An image to guide us. Blain Bovee writes about this symbol as “withdrawing rather than choosing between two equal options.” Astrology is a reflection of life (not causal), so I leave you with my sharing and the Sabian symbol as a guide and I hope it helps you bounce back into your center if life’s turmoil on the larger stage throws you off balance. Namaste. Bless this moment.
