New Moon in Aries starts our lunar month today April 11, 2021, at 7:31 pm PDT. This new moon in Aries is at 22 degrees 24 minutes. Aries energy dominates the chart with six planets and dwarf planets in this chart. Chiron at 9 degrees 39 minutes, Mercury at 14 degrees 57 minutes, Ceres at 19 degrees 36 minutes, Sun and Moon at 22 degrees 24 minutes, and Venus at 26 minutes 42 minutes. The sun is exalted in Aries which brings us a raw fiery strength to create and empower our individual desires. If you find yourself thinking you are selfish, then you are using this energy in authentic alignment. Aries is self-focused, it can be quick to jump into something then decide that whatever it first found attractive about it quickly changes and halts the pursuit just as fast as it entered.
Moon in Aries is striving and competitive, it needs to be burning that energy through drive and exertion. What are you planning for this new moon energy that asks for your physical or mental immediacy? Aries has an urgency to it, to start whatever is the thing it wishes to conquer or pursue with force. The Sun and Moon are sextile to Mars the ruler of Aries which is located at 23 degrees Gemini 6 minutes. What is valuable to know is that Mars and Mercury are in mutual reception, so they both are in “conversation” between their signs and thus each has an extra emphasis in realizing something quickly and with a speed that might be rather surprising.
I think this combination of Mercury in Aries and Mars in Gemini is excellent for brainstorming a volume of ideas that could be utilized later. Sunday night especially once the new moon is real and applying to Venus and then square to Pluto in Capricorn. Strike while it is good and gather a list of something that you wish to dive into with more information perhaps when Mercury is in Gemini. Mercury will enter Taurus on April 19th, and then into Gemini on May 3rd. So you see the swiftness of Mercury’s movement through the next three weeks. The Moon in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn is a power struggle the moon is not going to win, so my best wisdom is don’t engage however much the situation fires you up — your high move is to use the power for your individual empowerment in some manner that helps move the dial on your own transformation. Perhaps that action is taking courage to write a letter to someone you have needed to address something that must be addressed. Or taking a long bike ride to enjoy the sunset Sunday after dinner and feeling good you are engaging your physical self in healthy ways after perhaps a period of dormancy. We get to choose, and it is good to be reminded of our free will!
Also at this new moon in Aries we have Jupiter at 25 degrees Aquarius 18 minutes and Saturn at 12 degrees Aquarius 9 minutes. Both are applying to a trine aspect. Mars in Gemini at 23 degrees is applying to the trine with Jupiter so a lot of energy in air signs that will seek social interaction and perhaps in groups with friends. Be mindful to be safe, as Mars will not necessarily be thinking of that when that part of us is fulfilling our desires. Jupiter may carry that caution sign within a sign Saturn rules (and Uranus) which is likely felt like an exaggeration of distance for some people, or the fixed thinking within the collective group consciousness that is still present. Once Jupiter enters into Pisces next month for the first time in nearly 12 years it will be increasingly open, as Pisces is mutable and we will see Jupiter ruled things having new expression, a sign away from Saturn in Aquarius. I also wonder about the boundaries that dissolve when Jupiter enters Pisces and if that will be a significant problem for our communities, because we are still in the process of an enormous effort for immunizations.
I highly recommend before Jupiter enters Pisces on May 13 that you take time to write down as much as you can in your journal about your perceptions, thoughts, and experiences of the past year. You will have easier access to that in real-time and that journal entry may be incredibly valuable to you as an individual in your reflection in the days and years ahead on this experience. It is often in reflection that we are able to feel something that we pushed down when it was not safe to feel it. Many have blocked their feelings of the past year and have not fully felt them. It is a powerful medicine to the self when you are ready to feel your feelings in their full expression and acknowledge your experience. How many of us have numbed our true feelings of grief? Ceres is the dwarf planet that embodies an incredible amount of symbolism that we can integrate into our process of grieving when we give it proper sacred space. Ceres in this new moon chart is just behind the new moon at 19 degrees also applying to the Sun and then will square Pluto as well within a day, and if anyone can meet Pluto at the entry to the underworld it is Ceres.
The North Node at 13 degrees Gemini 30 minutes retrograde is applying to a trine aspect with Saturn in Aquarius at 12 degrees. With this aspect of easy flow between Saturn which is our responsible core that demands our maturity in some effort in an easy flow with the North Node of the moon, it is another reminder to us that this moment is fruitful for manifesting ideas, capturing them into a brainstorm to used in plans for future endeavors, or toward new energy that supports a group in pursuing social justice, or long-range goals for roads or transportation, which is truly Gemini. If you are planning any technology or science-related project, this is good energy to support that effort. Elementary schools and neighborhoods that need new rules for protection or who is supporting those efforts may be created with new information that improves it for whatever is new.
Accidents are unfortunately part of this chart too because Mars rules so many planets in this new moon moment. Careful with the power tools late Sunday and even into the early days of next week because the moon will enter Taurus and be applying to Uranus. The south node in Sagittarius, which is ruled by Jupiter in Aquarius is trine Chiron, Mercury, and Ceres. The warrior energy within you can burn with your courageous action and lead you towards clarity about the ways your fierce conversations, dealing with conflict, speaking your truth and even moving your body, working out to sweat it out is a way to work this energy. This combination reminds me of the healing that takes place in indigenous sweat houses with herbs for healing.
Energetically the south node in an easy flow also is a reminder that freedom will be easier to realize, travel will be easier, but it is not fully outside the responsible and distancing structures as Jupiter still expands that in the realm of Saturn. Jupiter simply expands the demands of Saturn. Saturn is after all a co-ruler of Aquarius and has the power and the truth on the matter. Uranus is not something we control, so there is the liberation woven in within this moment because of the square it holds with Saturn. We will see this embodied in leadership in various places re-emphasizing the need to distance and also the chaos visible with unexpected events that reveal the Uranus presence. Keep that in mind and have patience on the slow feeling and process of the re-emergence.
Neptune is at 21 degrees 48 minutes at a semi-sextile to this new moon. Mars and Neptune square is slowing waning in this chart but still within orb to have experiences that are confusing, or forgetfulness as part of a moment that might be frustrating. If you lost your keys this weekend or lost your way driving somewhere that is potential. Foggy conditions on roads could also be a potential, too much water on the roads in some situations, or roads that are damaged by water too. There are multiple ways the square of Mars and Neptune manifest in the mutable signs. Another one is more subtle that can have damage just the same, and that is the dishonesty that might happen and then the cause and effect that would bloom from one small lie. Mercury is in mutual reception so it does help mitigate the situation for Mars in Gemini, but I think that is a noteworthy theme of this square aspect.
Coming in the next few days we have Venus entering her own sign of Taurus on April 14th, and Mercury entering Taurus on April 19th and the same day the Sun enters Taurus. Mars will enter Cancer on April 23rd as we move to a full moon in Scorpio on April 26th, just a day before Pluto stations retrograde on April 27th emphasizing the degree. Pluto is at 26 Capricorn 48 minutes as it stations. At this station, Pluto is just slightly over a degree from exact to the USA’s natal Pluto position of 27 Capricorn 33 minutes. We have not yet reached the exact moment of our nation’s Pluto return, which is still on the horizon and occurs February 20, 2023.
Next month we have a significant ingress for Jupiter entering Pisces on May 13th, shifting expansive energy from Aquarius to Pisces. For individuals with more water in our chart than the air element, this will feel good for expressing all the feelings, the arts will be returning with Jupiter in Pisces, and more of us will be seeking films, photography, art galleries, friends at the movies, and even concerts will once again be emerging to awaken us with their vibrancy that in their unique sharing help us feel and love each other with new depths. Often when I write for the new moon a spirit animal appears in my mind and with Mercury and Mars in mutual reception, it makes sense that fox appears today. Like the fox as a spirit animal, we emerge into the unknown but with new strength and cunning agility to move around obstacles that may come on our path. Namaste. Bless this moment.
