New Moon in Aries – April 17, 2026
Friday, April 17, 2026, at 4:51 am PDT, is one of the most uniquely energized lunations. The new moon in Aries will have a staggering number of planets in Aries. Cardinal energy will be tapping us into an immediate initiation. This stellium in Aries has the moon, the sun, Chrison, Saturn, Mars, Mercury, and Neptune showing us that our instincts are turned on and alert. More important perhaps is the overall cardinal energy that is bursting that it will carry over the next couple weeks with Mercury moving through activating each planet, as well as Mars and its movement through Aries, the ruling planet of Aries. Marshal and pioneering energies initiating us into active mode.
Saturn in Aries will ask us to approach this dynamic with maturity and discipline. Even if Mars may go off half-cocked with the tendency towards destructive or disruptive actions. The wisdom is to refrain and remain alert. People who have been devoting themselves to a new initiative will get a boost of energy and insight, though still with obstacles to overcome. Progress is underway and should keep one motivated. Results come with discipline. Realizing our keys to success are the devotion to showing up to make something happen even when results are not yet visible. Saturn in Aries is similar to initiation, but it can take time for something to take form. You can learn more about this energy in my recent article The Ram and The Goddess: What the Sky is Asking of Us Now.
There may be pioneering ideas emerge or conversations with others this week and next that stimulate the birth of something we may not have even thought of in past weeks. As part of this dimensional experience we are learning about time in all its weirdness of how we experience it. That is Saturn. We have all had experiences where time felt like it was moving slowly, and other times where it felt accelerated. This week, it may feel like both. The reason is how people experience time and where they are in their own evolutionary unfoldment.
Mercury transits in Aries make the following conjunctions. Mercury enters Aries on April 14. Mercury conjunct Neptune on April 16 (7:00 pm PDT). Mercury conjunct Mars on April 20th at 2:44:28 pm PDT. Mercury conjunct Saturn on April 20th . Mercury conjunct Chiron on May 1, at 1:07:17 pm PDT. Mercury will enter Taurus on May 2nd. Mars’ conjunction with Saturn is exact on April 19th at 3:38 pm PDT.
April 17-20 are the most intense days with Mars conjunct Saturn at 7 degrees Aries. Mercury transiting both Mars and Saturn on April 20th is the most intense in the early morning. A good day for brainstorming about new ideas and what our resistance is to anything that puts us outside our comfort zone. Aries is asking us to see something with new eyes. It is a time of fresh perspectives and cutting through old paradigm blocks. Moon in out-of-bounds on April 19-23, creating a wild card for “the people” as a collective. While the moon is clearing the end of Taurus transiting Venus and Uranus it is activating something that lends to even greater unpredictability even into the early degrees of Gemini.
Jupiter in Cancer at 17 degrees is a supportive energy, but it sits in a square aspect with all the Aries fire energy. The protective shield is engaged at full capacity! Humanity will be resisting through nuturing themselves in their families and spaces where they feel the most secure and connected. Many will reach out to support others where the need is visible. Do not fret, there are many “earthly” angels that walk among us. You may have memories of having someone touch your life in mystical and spirital ways. Do not fret, know that love is a powerful energy it is the SOURCE.
The sun goes into Taurus on April 19th at 6:38:49 pm PDT. Whatever you worked through with vigor by the evening as the sun goes into Taurus the energy starts to settle with something that feels more refined, as Venus in Taurus at 21 degrees helps us return to beauty and the breath that gives us pause. That pause before another disruption, because Venus is applying to a conjunction with Uranus. THe moon as it leaves Taurus on April 19th will conjoin Uranus around 8:44 am PDT. The markets on Monday may show volatility with that specific transit. Venus conjoins Uranus on April 23rd at 6:58 am PDT at the 29 degrees 53 minutes Taurus, the critical degree. And the moon that evening will oppose Pluto at 4-5 degrees (Leo-Aquarius).
All this energy is giving us the sign that there is an immense amount of energy moving through us right now. We may feel the intensity, but we will be met with numerous roadblocks towards our realization. The energy will require great patience and wisdom to not be pulled into the storms that surround us. Wise elders are called at this time as less resilient individuals will seek guidance or be overwhelmed by the amount of intensity. Adding time in meditation will increase our resilience at this remarkable intensity.
Wisdom is knowing that, this too shall pass. Though, what transpires now in our collective reality has “stickiness” to it. This era is full of change. What matters most in our collective communities will need our attention. Fortitude is a good word to add to your daily mantras. Some souls were born for just these moments to bring their energy to this very unique time in human history.
The Moon opposes Pluto, with the Sun in Taurus at the T-square. The fixed nature of these signs after the Aries conjunctions notes I think the turning of the tide in some way. It may show up for FARMERS and how they are facing-off with authority at this time (note the latest in Ireland for example). The Moon energy is with the Sun in Taurus, energizing the need for peace, for resolutions to be grounded in action (Mars and Mercury in Aries). Plenty will be on the table for us all to consider for what we will allow or disallow in our future. On the executive desk, or even what we allow on our tables. The moon in Leo opposing Pluto is another signal of people rising up for what matters most in our earthly life. Emotional bravado is pushing hard against Pluto in Aquarius that is transforming everything to the core in technology. Pluto always wins in this duel, he plays the endurance game of what your soul is facing in its evolutionary arc.
Our leaps in technology are being met with people resisting what archetypally is pressing upon us to see who we really are and what we must strip away of anything that is not who we are now. And we will see how connected we really are in the world. Ripples and ripples.
Uranus makes its return to Gemini on April 25-26. The Uranus ingress chart into Gemini occurred last year on July 7th. You can review that chart analysis in this post.
Neptune in Aries at 2 degrees continues its transit in Aries. This next 14 years will be our shift into self-sovereignty and bold action inspired from within us. This will be an era, half a Saturn cycle where we are shifting identities. This shift is both macro and micro, from national identities to individuals. While Neptune is in Aries this is an important part of our downshift for speed in our evolution. Humans are emotional, spiritual, mental, physical and multi-dimensional beings when we get to the truth of who and what we really are. Time in reflection is imperative for feeling our way into the emerging rhythms of our identities shifting.
Pluto in Aquarius at 5 degrees will continue forever changing the way we think about any systems, our technology, and altering what we thought about future potentials of technology. This is a long-haul process of transformation. To bring it forward and change our fixed idea about the real cost of technology that is landing hard on how it truly works within our natural resources. It is a time when we need advanced technology in how we cool data centers and so much more. Most people lose sight of where we are with technology and what the real cost is. It will be our problem to figure out before it is too far in detriment. Each time Pluto goes retrograde we get to review our leaps and failures, before another layer fries our mother. Gaia is changing too, but most of us are walking around with our eyes closed.
Chiron in Aries tightly conjunct this new moon in Aries will reveal the existential crisis of simply being alive, the woundedness that emerges from the crisis of personal identity, self-worth, just simply BEING. It often shows up in our lives as an experience with abandoning ourselves and having the experience that we must stand up for ourselves again and again. It can feel like an endurance contest of expressing our self will. Chiron in Aries nataly is all about this energy, it is like a current running underneath everything. It can feel demanding and exhausting. Healing it is developing our confidence by expressing ourselves and our authentic voices. We ALL have to embrace authentic leadership. Some may say that Chiron is the karma of inaction. However, that statement lacks full awareness of what happens to many people through complex trauma. Anyone who has trauma and experiences freeze state will likely identify with Chiron in Aries. It is not as simple as cause and effect as one describes or uses the term karma. It is a far more complex thing psychologically.
Those born with Chiron in Aries may be the very healers in their maturity that have blazed the trail to move through moments of identity crisis. Those born in the late April 1, 1968 – March 28, 1977. Also those born in 2018 have Chiron in the initial entry of Aries, and will now be experiencing Neptune transit and Saturn transit over their natal position of Chiron. It can bring about identity crisis moments or the switching on of something generational these young souls brought for this very moment. Chiron enters Taurus, June 19th, but will have a final transit by retrograde September 18, 2026 through April 14, 2027. Consider how you put your own arrowhead of BEING in the FIRE to forge it. That’s what this period is for doing courageous acts for authentic BEING.*Personal Chiron in Aries at 2 degrees. Hear the whispers from within in the place of joy from your heart.
The Sabian symbol for this new moon is 28 degrees Aries is: A large disappointed audience. This is all about keeping our word.
We need to take other people into account when we make our claims and promises, so that we do not later disappoint. If we want to perfect both will and sensitivity then we need to do everything we can to fulfil our promises. This strongly impacts upon what possibilities of development and achievement will unfold for us.*
Dane Rudhyar’s note (those who don’t know he’s the grandfather of modern astrology) on this one is that a large audience confronts the performer who disappointed its expectations. NOW, think of what is happening quite loudly on the global stage. What do you see? How and where do you see this being visible?
Remember to speak YOUR truth. BE YOUR TRUTH. The rest flows.
Namaste. Bless this moment.
