The full moon on November 8th, 2022, at 3:02 am PST will be a total lunar eclipse at 16 degrees of Taurus. The lunar eclipse will be a conjunction of the moon and Uranus at 16 degrees, both conjunct the lunar north node at 13 degrees. This eclipse is very powerful given the close orb of the planets with the south node, but it is also amplified by Saturn in Aquarius near a square with both at 18 degrees. Saturn square Uranus has been giving us all a shake down for a few years. This is the last of those squares in fixed signs, as Saturn is slowly headed to Pisces. Additionally, since Mars stationed retrograde in Gemini on October 30th, there have been quite few failures, conflicts, and accidents, as well as violence. With the high amount of squares within this total lunar eclipse most people will have some experience with it, simply depends on where the fixed signs are within each person’s individual nativity. Especially so for those with rising signs, Sun, and Moon in mid degrees of fixed signs.
Mercury in Scorpio behind the Sun at 15 degrees 52 minutes is part of the lunar eclipse themes as well. Mercury is under the beams of the sun, so realizations may not occur until Mercury is beyond the sun and visible. The key to gaining the insights available are to be open and ask the universe questions and observe. The movement of things taking us into the depths for our investigation, deeper understanding, and a view of the psychology on the matters we are navigating now. Mercury will be visible in the evenings around December 7th, so there is a lot of deep inner exploration you can do now and probe into the details, write your questions, gather observations, and be primed for new insights and a-ha moments early December. By then Mercury will ingress into Capricorn. So this is a good month into the depths. What is Mercury trying to reveal to you in your life? Where is Mercury in transit (Scorpio) in your chart?
Venus in Scorpio ahead of the Sun at 20 degrees 13 minutes also ties into this lunar eclipse with a bit of dramatic intensity, as she is the ruling planet of the sign Taurus where the Moon and Uranus, and the North Node are in transit. Venus appears again in the evening sky around December 23rd. At that time Venus will be in Capricorn as well. Interesting that both Mercury and Venus are not visible to us in the heavens until December. All of November and parts of December will have these two planets having us on an inner journey, though likely spurred and stirred by external events that transpire. Mars, our planet of action is also pulling us inward.
Mars, the planet we connect to our action, free will, courage, instinct, and passions (desires) is retrograde in Gemini until January 12, 2023. Presently and at this lunar eclipse on November 8th Mars is square Neptune and Jupiter in Pisces. Signals are bound to be confusing. Our thoughts, our knee-jerk reactions, our communication style and so much more are flipped on us as Mars transit retrograde also moves us to observe ourselves more deeply. If Earth our human experience is a school, this is where you get the homework of YOU, YOUR reactions, when you are squeezed how do you respond? This next few months will reveal that in bold colors, or rather bold words and things you have to take responsibility for either refining the way something is communicated or renegotiating for something, or even simply revealing the simple lesson of cause and effect. How does too much of something have you very busy responding to fix it or re-prioritize what you must do? Mars in Gemini also does the issue or situation come with double the trouble or even four things?
Gemini is the sign of the twins, with Mars transiting this sign and in aspect by square with Neptune and Jupiter there can be a sizeable situation to handle. Two also can be four, because of the deeper meaning of the archetype. If you have ever read Greek mythology on Zeus (Jupiter in Roman) and the Queen of Sparta (see art for Leda and the Swan) you will gain deeper insight into how Gemini (twins) becomes four (twins in two eggs). Her immortal offspring. If you are interested in this myth you will find a good webinar Jason Holley did on the Gemini archetype. HERE
It is interesting that there are two born of Zeus (in one egg) and two born of king Tyndareus her husband. It is noteworthy to consider the meaning of two immortal and two mortal in the myth, the twins of each egg for Leda. We often think of the two Gemini as Castor (mortal) and Pollux (immortal) as the inseparable twins. It may be a good time to read the myth and ponder the meaning that is embedded in the archetypes. Is it not fascinating that the story includes the twins (Castor and Pollux) impressing Poisiden with their skills of sport and horseback riding that they were invited to be defenders of shipwrecked sailors? I think you will enjoy the myth you may read this HERE. Consider the myth stating that one would be in the underworld and one on Mount Olympus, later in the myth and the symbolic meaning of something above and something below, which is also stated in Hermes hymn as “As above so below, so below as above…” When I view this myth I also think of the sparks of life that are positive and negative charges. Also, another viewpoint is matter and non-matter, the stuff of our universe that falls within the invisible from our eye, yet takes up space. This is the kind of topic you can go into with a Scorpio Mercury! Bringing something forward and making conscious after exploring the hidden layers of significant symbolism for ourselves.
It is a time polar opposites are being explored in our thought patterns and also themes that emerge in conversations and perceptions. I even think photography in heavy contrast would be incredibly appropriate with Mars square to Jupiter and Neptune. It is an interesting lens for observing forms!
Jupiter in Pisces adds a bit of support to soften the harsh edges of contrast or conflicting themes. Jupiter may show up in the mix as the grace of a moment that appears as the abundance or relief through a Jupitarian type person. How the support of each individual is uniquely different. Jupiter can soften the hard edges of the crisis we may be managing at this time.
Slow-moving Saturn in Aquarius in square to Uranus is very volatile, and disruptive, especially systems. We are seeing some of this manifest in the technology industry with layoffs, and changing authorities’ Chief Executives. Mars in retrograde just adds a lot of fuel to an intense period of transformation. Consider the theme of rebellion, social activism, and liberating themes with Uranus in Taurus. The bigger question is, is whatever is emerging from the disruption is it of a higher mind supporting well-being? Too early to say how the authorities in power will lead in the coming months, but I already see people joining together to help each other navigate the unknown paths ahead of them.
Neptune in Pisces carries themes of illusion and confusion when in a hard aspect with Mars, so I do not see things settling down (cooling) until Mars moves out of Gemini on March 25, 2023. However, Mars entering Cancer is Mars in the sign of its fall, so for Mars-ruled individuals, the light at the end of the tunnel is a long path of observing and taking a personal inventory of self. We are ever-evolving souls, time is a construct of life on earth, memory, and the ability to understand self through time and space, as we are distanced from some focus we gain insight into our consciousness and how well we integrate significant lessons we intended. If there are unknowns on the path of life, surrendering to what is in the moment and acknowledging it is a healthy way to actually feel and learn from our own intuition too. Meditation and yoga practices support us in receiving and staying heart-centered. Use your imagination!
Pluto is finishing its transit of Capricorn over the next four months. In March Pluto makes its ingress into Aquarius. There will be a new level of conscious exploration of human and their relationship with technology which include first the shadow material of it that emerges first, as it always does. I encourage you to figure out how much your life is entangled by technology, this is part of that new paradigm we will all go through together. From how we earn a living and our banks run on direct deposit, to the marketing of goods and services through the internet and social media and how most do not realize how much psychology of pattern is or has been used to manipulate their response to increasing profit by goods sold. It is costly, not just financially but also to the spirit of how we consider community, it is far-reaching with all the subscriptions through apps made so easily accessible through our smartphones.
When Pluto moves into Aquarius anticipate breakthroughs in science emerging as this is where Jupiter and Saturn made a conjunction in December 2020, and only now will there be big moves in tech that become more visible. We see one Aquarian individual showing up dramatically in the news lately, this individual will be an interesting part of the collective story of our relationship with technology. It is not easy to see the shadows until they emerge from being highlighted, and brought to the light. Be observant. Consider your own participation in the themes, we all have the journey with the shadow into the light. Just as we all lived our lives through the transformation Pluto in Capricorn has brought to us collectively on structures of power and infrastructures that we create some conscious some unconscious. It actually will have a lot of shake-up in the tech economies. Old tech is fading at faster rates, and it will increasingly reach its expiration date when Pluto is in Aquarius. New technology will emerge, but there is the wrestling we all do together on how much and when. Pluto is slowly sweeping through the late degrees of Capricorn continuing the dismantling of old paradigms, systems that are outdated, and structures. Pluto forces us to consider infrastructure, hierarchies that do not serve the collective, and what needs to be reconfigured and transformed.
Pluto in Aquarius will also amplify the subject of mental illness and what well-being is in our lives now. If you have planets in the early degrees of Aquarius-Leo, or Taurus-Scorpio, Pluto’s ingress to Aquarius will bring incredibly significant changes to your life. With Pluto’s rulership of a fixed sign (Scorpio) in Evolutionary Astrology, transiting next year in early Aquarius it will be square to Scorpio and Taurus, so it will be interesting at least from a curiosity standpoint to observe the tension and what crisis may unfold from psychological implications of technology, but also the changes that come in the world of biomechanics and biochemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry. The coming outerplanet movement of Pluto will be an interesting time, but not without its own volatility with great change. Technology is shapeshifting and we create it, so however we collectively do it this is kind of fascinating. In all this technology transformative themes consider the most significant of them all. The technology of the human body, our structure of flesh and bone, and our inner electrical, our nervous system and how it acts like antennae in the universal mind. So, what are you receiving (perceiving)? If that doesn’t intrigue you, well…I could go on, but I will close for now. Reach out if you seek guidance on your own relationship from the moment of your birth and these transits. I am here to support you, listen, and give insight as you inquire. Namaste. Bless this moment.
