This total lunar eclipse has a significant amount energy this Friday, July 27th, 2018 at 1:20 PM PDT (4:20 PM EDT). Not only is this the longest lunar eclipse this century it also brings the high intensity of Mars in Aquarius retrograde with the lunar south node conjunct. What does that mean? Mars is currently it’s closest distance to the Earth as it transits retrograde in opposition to the Sun and that brings high tension with the sign of Aquarius, a fixed air sign. Another strong aspect is Uranus transiting Taurus is at 2 degrees 30 minutes creating a powerful T-Square of sudden changes or volatility from earthy Taurus symbolism to the opposition between Sun in Leo to Moon in Aquarius and Mars and the South Node within a degree either side of the Moon. On the west coast, at least in my state the rising sign is 0 degrees Scorpio and 41 minutes bringing the Uranus in Taurus to the Descendant angle which influences it power even more for big change and change in direction for anything connected in the early fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Everyone will feel something, and many will experience directly or indirectly significant moments of change, release and bursts of energy that are marked by this combination. Where that is in your life will be where your nativity is connected and what houses the fixed signs are for you. May be in relationships and you going through either a shedding of some sort perhaps how you’ve been relating, or maybe to a higher extreme in letting go of a relationship with a friend or lover and even more dramatic will be those who experience the loss on the other side. It’s all in this mix, as part of larger cycles it is important to consider where you are in the present moment and where life’s flow will be directing you. This is a time of course correction. This may be a moment where you’ll be reviewing emotional situations and your objective or lack of objectivity in the matter will shed some insight into an area for growth. Your choice and free will (Mars) on how you respond. Courage to operate from your heart instead of your head may be your call- to-action in important relationships.
Eclipses are always periods of intensity, change, unexpected new directions and often bring endings and new beginnings. What marks this moment for many is what is released and what is being brought forward from something past. It may reveal for us something we were unable to see before and now we have an opportunity for clarity or restating our intentions. Mars in Aquarius sometimes symbolizes the freedom to let people be exactly as they are and not be taken off our own path or distracted from the other person’s choices in life. Aquarian individuals are known to connect with many and have several friendships, maybe there’s something to the gift of allowing individuality in a variety of forms and still holding your own center. How happy many souls would feel with this in truth!
There are many stories in the news that are part of this energy, as events often happen before, during and after eclipses. From the tragedy on the lake in Missouri with 17 drownings and several other top stories of children drowning, to the shooting in Toronto, Canada and other violence such as Nia Wilson’s murder in Oakland, to individuals being finally identified from 9/11 (see NPR news) to Facebook losing double digits in value as stocks fell this week, billions in aid unexpectedly announced going to US farmers after tariffs with China are impacting export markets, as well as many hot new insights in the USA government to the President’s daughter closing her fashion line — all are tied into this eclipse and its T-square with Uranus in Taurus. Olympic athletes also making the news on fear (both Mars themes) on retaliation if they speak out on abuse or assault. I learned recently that Greece’s Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras (July 28, 1974) has this eclipse on their Leo Sun same degree (4 Leo) and the country is experiencing a great loss of life in the recent fires that burned out of control killing 75+ people. So when you consider his Solar Return this year for him (which also connects to the people of his country) the Solar Return chart for this year lands on July 27th right smack with the moon within 2 degrees of the actual eclipse moment. You may learn more on his chart at https://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Tsipras,_Alexis .
We can see the themes of these planetary signatures everywhere. I’m interested also to see positive too, where humans lift others up and share their vulnerability. Not easy to find the goodness of people in the news, but you can find many stories on Good News Network https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/ and there are millions if not billions more across our globe that never get written but indeed happen through every day kindness. Have you seen amazing courage or bravery this would be another Mars theme too? It’s hard to stay positive when we are blasted twenty-four hours a day with the suffering of others, so we either seek the positive or embody it for others and become a beacon of light to lift others who feel despair. If you do not see the positive stories, you have all the power within you to create something for someone else that is joyful and uplifting, you only have to use your Mars in act of will with love. It is that simple to bring more love to life. May you find a space to release old ideas and perceptions that keep you from heart first living and be courageous to stand for life, like Elin Ersson of Sweden did for a stranger, and most likely saved his life. https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/staggers/2018/07/woman-who-stood-plane-reminds-us-we-can-all-change-world
Be bold. Be courageous and act from your heart in love to change the world.
Bless this moment. Namaste.
