Today, Tuesday May 7, 2024, we have a new moon in Taurus at 8:22 pm PDT. This new moon will have some wildcards with Uranus so close to the new moon. Moon and Sun conjoin at 18 degrees 02 minutes Taurus within 4 degrees of Uranus and within 7 degrees of Jupiter which both will conjoin in the next few days. This month is a month to explore your inner labyrinth, process the parts of life we have sought to stabilize, but still appear to need resolution on some level, while new insights are emerging we may have a-ha moments about how secure and confident we feel. We find what we need and why we feel we need it. And we may give ourselves permission to actually acknowledge what we need to live a fulfilled life. Many struggle with giving themselves the okay, to pursue something they desire because they have been conditioned to believe or think that what they wanted on their own had to be attached to some kind of approval.
Healthy interdependent relationships require individuals in a relationship either as loving partners, or adults and children at various stages have to learn about what it is to be interdependent, as some learned codependency as children and are still breaking the conditioning patterns of that kind of thinking. Have you felt guilty for trying to do or give yourself space within a relationship? To have moments for yourself without guilt? Without the burden of someone else’s emotional weight for making a choice that is solely for your interests and passions? This is a month to make a commitment to give yourself the gift of independence, the path to pursue your heart’s desire and to shut down any guilt tha may be real or imagined. Uranus with this new moon and with Jupiter is about that breakthrough about your relationships with other people and how you experience them. It is permission to break free from the cages we have been dwelling with to appease others. To grow how we really want to grow we have to be given space to take risks, make decisions for ourselves, and own that responsibly. Mars is in Aries, so the energy is present to use our free will quite sharply. We may require courage if we have been in people pleasing mode. It’s a breakthrough kind of month from the new moon this Tuesday in Taurus, the next new moon in Gemini. Mars in Aries at 5 degrees 45 minutes is also sextile to Pluto in Aquarius, an active energy with power dynamics, fire and air elements activating each other.
Mercury is at 21 degree 55 minutes of Aries, our perception and mode of communication may be radical, impatient and urgent. Mercury is conjoined with Chiron the Wounded Healer in Aries, a combination that is like a hot potato on sensitive subjects and behaviors that aggravate others. Mars in Aries is active and instinctual, it can be cutting and short fused as well, depending on the person or the situation that may get flared up.
Venus is also in its domain of Taurus, at 10 degrees. Venus having recently squared Pluto there still may be lingering tensions in relationships or something is visible now that is changing our thoughts about what we value, how we feel secure, and our confidence. As Venus continues its transit through Taurus it will activate the 22 degree where Jupiter-Uranus conjoined on April 20th. There can be something new appearing in our experience that resonates deeply with us and what we value. We may discover new pathways of how we may structure ourselves perhaps inr relation to our possessions. A paradigm shift is potentially awakening of this inner shift reflected externally in our lives and perhaps our livelihood. The recent tensions give way to exploring new, unexpectedly new desires that will transform us. Simplicity will be increasingly valued during this month.
The Sun transit to Uranus early Monday, May 13th around 2:22 am PT, then on Saturday, May 18th the sun will reach Jupiter in Taurus and be cazimi most the day from early morning before sunrise to after sunset. It is a day to pay attention to your connection, who you meet, what is new and emerging and what might be a resolution or solution to something you have pursued. It is a new dawn in so many ways. Individuals who have Sagittarius rising, Pisces rising, or Sun signs will experience something about what mask they share with the world or how they self-identify and show a new path and point of perspective.
As a Sun Sagittarius, in my 9th house, I sense that I am likely to have a rebirth of my beliefs or perhaps the desire to pursue a new study in higher education (which often I do within astrology), this year though it may be something quite different. Jupiter in Scorpio in my 7th house may have new passions too. Look at where Jupiter is in your natal chart and what houses are Sagittarius and Pisces on the cusp and you’ll have insights to where you are having rebirth. As a parent you may look at your child’s chart and consider where this shift happens for your children. It is a unique time for Jupiter after its conjunction April 20th with Uranus (sudden events and new beginnings), as well as now this moment in the month of a new moon in Taurus Jupiter begins a new cycle (synodic cycle) with the Sun. It may feel like an ending and beginnings overlapping, a fade out for a while before Jupiter emerges visible as a morning star in the predawn sky.
Saturn in Pisces at 17 degrees 13 minutes and Neptune at 29 degrees Pisces the last degree of the zodiac bring our attention to images, we can easily go through a period of time with misinformation from authority figures, because the stories have been exaggerated and we lose the concrete structure or the framing of a significant idea. It can be hard to understand what someone may need, with this position of Neptune. On the bright side, spending time doing art is quite therapeutic and long-lasting goodness for the soul.
Pluto is retrograde, having been stationed to retrograde on May 1st and 2nd 2 degrees Aquarius. This retrograde will have Pluto transiting back into Capricorn September 1st and 2nd where it will complete its final turn in Capricorn. It will then station direct on October 11 and 12 and re-enter Aquarius on November 19th. I cannot help but sense a collective final countdown this year, and that has millions of different points of perspective from every soul and how it has experienced Pluto in Capricorn.
This month spring will finally feel some stability in the warming days for the northern hemisphere. Hard work may be part of flow of life, but it has beauty and the archetypal potential to have unexpected spaces for peace. Take time to smell the roses and settle into serenity wherever you find it in nature. Namaste. Bless this moment.
