The sun moves into Libra tonight at 11:50 p.m. PDT (Friday). This marks the beginning of the fall season in the northern hemisphere. At this moment, the moon is in the sign of Capricorn which presents us with the opening square from the lunation that started with the new moon on September 14th. The moon is like a wildcard with it’s out-of-bounds position well above the sun’s ecliptic. The out-of-bounds moon in Capricorn accentuates or frustrates the feeling of limitation or restriction on our emotional bodies.
This chart of the autumnal equinox creates the mood of the moon over the season until the following season when the sun enters Capricorn later this year. The Capricorn moon reflects our need to control our emotional intensity in the midst of a crisis moment. Also, we will sense a deep need to control our power over something that we sense emotionally rocks our boat. Can you identify what that might be for you? The symbolism of this moon may also reveal the controls we have placed upon us within our relationships, revealing where we feel the pinch of reality in some way. Support comes from Jupiter in Taurus as the moon moves toward a flowing yet grounded trine aspect, in other words, we have support that can emerge that helps us on our path even if it feels burdensome.
Mars in Libra applying to a tight opposition with Chiron the wounded healer in Aries is a challenging combination, which speaks to our need for diplomacy even when we are reminded of how the situation of something can feel like another wound surfacing that requires our acknowledgment and willingness to take a new approach. Mars in the same sign as the sun creates an atmosphere that is tense, wondering how to engage or act on our instincts. We are sensitive to the landscape of our visibility or invisibility in our larger world. Pluto in Capricorn at 27 degrees is retrograde, with Mars in Libra applying over this month towards an exact square which amplifies the intensity and how acting willfully can come to a cross-hairs with powerful authority. How will we strive for progress? Mars in Libra can heighten our activities related to social justice. With Venus in Leo, there is visibility to the relationships that support and give meaning to what we care about and are willing to speak up for and be amplified by our voices.
Mercury in Virgo, still behind the sun but catching up is in its sign of exaltation. We can learn a lot now as the messenger planet sweeps back through information and helps us analyze deeper. We may still be confused about what the data is presenting, as Neptune is opposite Virgo in the sign of Pisces. Our logical minds are working rigorously to find the patterns from which we frame another lens of perspective on something that we would have missed without the side path we have had to take during Mercury’s recent retrograde cycle. We are still making sense with our logic forward first. We still have a cloud bank to emerge from though to have a glimpse of an a-ha we desire. We can feel ‘shuffled’ by life events that are beyond our immediate control, this is a time of recognizing the threads of our relationship with each other, how small communications from the heart help us even when there isn’t a resolution to some bigger matter. Mercury will pass through the heart of the sun again on October 19th at 10:37:48 pm PDT. Mercury cazimi the sun is a great time to ask for guidance. As Mercury is cazimi the sun and then shifts to an evening star, Mercury while in Libra will be in mutual reception with Venus in Virgo then, our clarity with new insights will emerge.
Venus in Leo (18 degrees) is in an exact trine with Chiron in Aries at this fall equinox. Through our giving nature to be expressed we support our allies in the need to be seen, to be lifted up. Venus in Leo is like a friend that eagerly highlights your greatest qualities at just the right moment that help heal a wound of invisibility. Small actions we take at the right time with loving attention create miracles for others who need to feel the wind in their sails again after the storms of life have pushed them into stale and lifeless waters. And for those receiving, Venus in Leo, it is just as important to acknowledge with gratitude. We are all learning from one side or another in the uncertainties of life.
Jupiter in Taurus (retrograde) at 14 degrees while a supporting energetic impulse for the moon of the moment, has the potential for instability from close Uranus (retrograde) at 22 degrees Taurus. What must be excavated from the depths to truly grow to truly change to where we desire to be? Venus in Leo is squaring the mid-point of Jupiter (expansion) and Uranus (sudden events). And with the Sun in Libra, can we really do our personal growth without the help of another person? Often we do not get to the proper depths of matters blocking our growth without something engaging or activating it from within one of our closest relationships. Our relationships are sacred for that evolutionary tide to our changes.
The north node in Aries brings events and experiences forward in our lives in quick turns. Aries is pioneering, energetic, lean into conflict, willful, and can be insensitive – but Mars in Libra is a counterbalance to that in how we may see this expressed. We need to be self-assertive but considerate of others at this time. It is a bit of a tightrope walk balancing opposing forces of energy. South node in Libra, is releasing some aspects of balance to make an impact with the nature of our will. We may have spiritual expressions as part of our surrendering that balance. The lunar nodes at 26 degrees are in aspect with Neptune by an inconjunct (150 degrees) an aspect of tension, not seeing each other. The sun in Libra, while out of sign is still in opposition with Neptune in Pisces. Have any dreams come that highlight something out of view for you that prompts your exploration of themes around your balance or pleasing others? The sun in Libra and Venus in Leo are in mutual reception, which adds to the intensity of the desire to find our center and know we are loved. Sometimes letting go (surrendering) is something that pleases us to better understand ourselves as individuals first. Only when we are strong as individuals do we attract something we find balances energies that bring forward new experiences.
Neptune in Pisces opposite the sun, and Mercury applying to Neptune in the next few days will have our intuition with long-range feelers on alert. Our inner landscapes and soulful yearnings beg for our worldly grounding in ritual and beautification. How do you create beauty and logic in your space? Some things will never make logical sense, they will only evoke our senses in ways where language fails. Now imagine that in your relationships…it isn’t the list of attributes, it is most often the inexplicable, undeniable feeling that can sadden us or uplift us. I imagine the feeling is best found when we are looking eye to eye. When was the last time you looked deeply into another’s eyes for over five minutes? What feeling is present? Some may experience discomfort as we are ever so vulnerable with the intensity of an enduring gaze. May this autumnal equinox season you find loving eyes to gaze with and be filled with feelings that no words define. Namaste. Bless this moment.
