This morning around 4:56 am Pacific Daylight Time the moon became full in the sign of Pisces at 3 degrees 12 minutes. From the west coast of the US we have Leo rising for this full moon, with the Sun directly opposite the Pisces full moon in Virgo also at 3 degrees 12 minutes. The Sabian symbol for this full moon is: Heavy traffic on a narrow isthmus. An image that sounds restrictive from one point of view, a limited route of options to navigate, basically a bottleneck. Within the theme we can see a narrowing of focus, which for many can bring intuition into sharp focus. Blain Bovee writes on this Sabian Symbol,
You may feel you are flowing at your intuitive best. Which usually means you have no idea in advance of where you are going and how you are to get there.
Therefore, let the fun runner enter your world, your mind and awareness. At day’s end, it is highly likely that bizarre stories of how things worked out will abound.
The mediators note for the day goes like this: concentrated focus is only broad diffused background focus, gathered and organized around a narrow point.
Also, when addressing problems that seem impossible to fix, consider finding the way anyway. Take a time-out, step back and cast a playful intuition that the answer will come at just the right time.
Interesting to ponder this Sabian Symbol and intuition being heightened given the dreams that my daughter had last night and the synchronicities of images I got this morning with the photo of the lynx and her kitten in the meadow. Dreams are powerful at full moon and Pisces even more imaginative and colorful filled with meaning for the individual to sift through upon waking. The full moon illuminates the 7th house (Placidus) of others. This moon is sextile to Saturn in Capricorn and also Uranus in Taurus. The reflected light stimulating the responsible and cold determinism of Saturn with the unstable and surprising energy of Uranus, through the end of this lunar cycle what we think is going one way may show us something completely new, something unexpected and may have a karmic tie to it for our acknowledgement and accountability. It is often HOW we respond to something, not the something that occurs of itself. Do you sense an uptick in your intuition, like your inner antennae are on full receiving mode?
Jupiter in Scorpio in a waning trine with Neptune in Pisces brings an expansive new depth that opens new portals of discovery. Where does active imagination take you? Who are the characters and the themes? What do they have to share with you about your Self and where you are in the present moment? Our psyches have such an indelible depth to offer us, and most of us never allow ourselves to probe the depths to reach new heights. One always follows the other. You cannot go to great heights without experiencing a great depth as well; universal laws tell us this truth. Have you ever thought about the Dark Night of the Soul that many go through in an awakening process for a moment of enlightenment? It can also come in the reverse, the sudden illumination followed by a journey through the underworld and getting to know shadow. The phrase ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ came through St. John of the Cross, a translation that shares the journey of the soul from a state of abandonment and darkness to a loving union with God. If you’ve not read the translation by this Spanish mystic I highly recommend it. From chapter six,
“It now remains to be said that, although this happy night brings darkness to the spirit, it does so only to give it light in everything; and that, although it humbles it and makes it miserable, it does so only to exalt it and to raise it up; and, although it impoverishes it and empties it of all natural affection and attachment, it does so only that it may enable it to stretch forward, divinely, and thus to have fruition and experience all things, both above and below, yet to preserve its unrestricted liberty of spirit in them all.”
John A. Sanford writes in The Kingdom Within – The Inner Meaning of Jesus’ Sayings,
“In our fear of our dreams, our repudiation of the mystical side of life, and our relegation of myths to the world of senseless fables, soul is being starved.” He continues, “Yet the word lingers on. Do we not occasionally say (when we are not thinking too clearly, of course!) of a certain kind of music that is “soul-ful”? Do we not speak of “soul-ful eyes”, or say of a certain singer he or she “has soul”? Rejected, abandoned, despised, attacked, soul refuses to die, a fact for which we should be forever grateful.”
My mind drifts immediately to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, who passed just a few days ago on August 16, 2018, at 9:50 am in Detroit, MI. Symbolic for the essence she brought all of us in her soulful singing and gospel beginnings. She reminded many of us in our feeling nature (in our root chakra) of the part of us that is yin, connected to something deeper. This symbolism also reminds me of the black Madonna in Christianity, the black mother of all humanity’s origins, Marion Woodman wrote so eloquently of in her book The Pregnant Virgin – A Process of Psychological Transformation. Marion Woodman who died last month writes, “The Black Madonna is nature impregnated by spirit, accepting the human body as the chalice of the spirit. She is the redemption of matter, the intersection of sexuality and spirituality.”
The depth we can go with this symbolism is as deep as the infinite night. I can barely scratch the subjects in the few lines I write here. We feel it at the very root of our being in certain songs that flowed through her to us. Almost as if the vibration of her soulful uplifting voice carried us above the woes of our collective grief. In her passing we grieve, not just for this iconic performer, but for something we’d forgotten that was always within us, too. Some people embody the archetypes at higher degrees for us collectively. This makes me wonder about Aretha Franklin becoming known as the Queen of Soul in 1967, a time of significant change everywhere, when Uranus and Pluto were conjunct in the heavens and a new revolution of how we imagined ourselves was born. It may be worth exploring the joy and challenges of matters within her life that collectively we are healing related to soul. When you listen to her sing R-E-S-P-E-C-T, there are a several lines in there about sexuality that drive home this theme of spirit and sexuality coming together…in the lyrics “taking care of business”. Or T.C.B. brings a whole new level of meaning of her being soulful and the Queen! Soul still has something for us to learn. Our human needs are real and part of our spirituality too. One cannot separate them. We are still learning about the wounds of our sexual natures as being immoral, when in fact they are not, they are natural law. The projection of men’s religious ideas and philosophies in the past few thousand years has buried this truth in suppression and judgement. Uranus in Taurus indeed will shake up this part of ourselves. Simple and yet chaotic all at the same time. Get grounded, you’ll need sure footing where soul is ready to take you.

Here are the lyrics:
RESPECT
What you want
Baby, I got it
What you need
Do you know I got it?
All I’m askin’
Is for a little respect when you get home (just a little bit)
Hey baby (just a little bit) when you get home
(Just a little bit) mister (just a little bit)
I ain’t gonna do you wrong while you’re gone
Ain’t gonna do you wrong ’cause I don’t wanna
All I’m askin’
Is for a little respect when you come home (just a little bit)
Baby (just a little bit) when you get home (just a little bit)
Yeah (just a little bit)
I’m about to give you all of my money
And all I’m askin’ in return, honey
Is to give me my propers
When you get home (just a, just a, just a, just a)
Yeah, baby (just a, just a, just a, just a)
When you get home (just a little bit)
Yeah (just a little bit)
Ooh, your kisses
Sweeter than honey
And guess what?
So is my money
All I want you to do for me
Is give it to me when you get home (re, re, re, re)
Yeah baby (re, re, re, re)
Whip it to me (respect, just a little bit)
When you get home, now (just a little bit)
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Find out what it means to me
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Take care, TCB
Oh (sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me)
A little respect (sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me)
Whoa, babe (just a little bit)
A little respect (just a little bit)
I get tired (just a little bit)
Keep on tryin’ (just a little bit)
You’re runnin’ out of fools (just a little bit)
And I ain’t lyin’ (just a little bit)
(Re, re, re, re) when you come home
(Re, re, re, re) ‘spect
Or you might walk in (respect, just a little bit)
And find out I’m gone (just a little bit)
*Songwriters: Otis Redding
Did you hear the sexuality in the song or did you hear a woman demanding respect from her partner or she’s out of here? How do you see it now?
Life is mysterious and it seems rather infinite how deep we can go to understand ourselves and our connection to everything, to Divine. This is what comes for me on this day of the full moon in Pisces. More seems to be coming to the surface within me to understand something I’ve desired to know and understand about myself, life and it took a startling real life hard hitting accident this week to unlock it from the depths to surface. Perhaps your dreams and intuitive prompts are leading you to something for your understanding now too. My prayer is I am able to feel it, heal it if it is an old wound and to consciously integrate it within my life and my sharing with other souls. Namaste. Bless this moment.
