March 20th is the first day of spring and after a long winter many of us are ready to jump into the new season. This year spring packs an extra energy punch with a total solar eclipse at 5:36 am EDT (2:36 am PDT) in 29 degrees of Pisces, occurring in the last sign of the zodiac and the last degree giving it extra intensity. The moon will move into the sign of Aries at 6:27 am EDT (3:27 am PDT) and the Sun about 13 hours later moves into Aries at 6:45 pm EDT (3:45 pm PDT). This vernal equinox will have an impact for a year and those with planets less than 5 degrees of the 29th degree of a mutable sign (Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius) will feel the energy more noticeably. Pisces is the sign of universality, compassion, humanitarianism, psychic awareness and spirituality and these themes will be prominent operating in higher consciousness; we could also experience fear and confusion with the energy as well if we are operating on lower levels. Emotions will be highlighted during this time as the energy is focused on the inner world and psyche where it may create strong moods as subconscious impressions, images and symbols bubble up to the conscious mind for us to consciously navigate healing and release the emotional baggage our soul is ready to put down.
With the recent 7th Uranus – Pluto square on March 16th the final in a series of seven since 2010 by sign and June 2012 by aspect, where the effects of these squares will be with us for several years (similar to the Uranus Pluto conjunction experienced in the 1960’s) there is an abundance of transformational energy in the mix. This transformational energy can come quite strong with an intensity that requires your conscious focus to stay out of fear, stay in the present moment and being. The highest vibration of Pisces is demanding our attention, our recalibration and our allowing healthy balance in our lives. Pay attention to the emotional body, the mental body and physical body as feelings come through the unfolding releasing the old to create space for the new.
Additionally, the solar eclipse in Pisces brings an opportunity to dream, meditate and create new visions for our lives and set intentions for changes that will fulfill our being on deeper levels. Wherever Pisces is in your birth chart will be the area of life these themes will be in focus for at least a year. As the planets transit over this 29th degree (any mutable sign as noted above) throughout the year these themes will be intensified as the degree is “triggered” in the psyche for us to work on for conscious transformational long lasting change. This is a rare occurrence to have a total solar eclipse happening within hours of the vernal equinox and on the 29th degree of Pisces. What practices support you now in getting closer to your inner self? What are you releasing as it no longer works to support your growth? What dreams symbols and archetypes are surfacing from the subconscious to look at more closely? What rituals will you use to support setting a new intention as you enter this new season? Seems like a potent opportunity to tap into our divinity. The cosmos is breathing us into new beginnings with an extra boost on getting us closer to our inner being, closer to spirit, closer to creator and deeper awareness of ourselves within the whole. Within a day of the vernal equinox five planets will be in Aries giving us a shot of cardinal energy to charge forward into a new chapter of our on-going growth.
