Today, August 27, 2022, we have a New Moon in Virgo at 4 degrees 3 minutes. This New Moon faces off with an applying tight square with Mars at 4 degrees Gemini. Along with Uranus at 18 Taurus with the North Node at 16 Taurus and South Node in Scorpio all square Saturn in Aquarius at 20 degrees 57 minutes, this all adds up to a month of tension, cutting language (be careful what you say this month), as well as a lot of potential for accidents, serious upsets and blocks on the path that you will have to figure out how to manage through and it will be a challenge!
Mercury rules Virgo (Happy Birthday month to Virgo Suns!) and presently Mercury recently entered Libra (August 25th). Mercury in the sign of Libra (the scales) is a social sign, but also it is focused on relationships. Mercury will push on our desires for relationships, but also we may be reviewing the balance and order of things within our most important relationships. For a creative imaginative exercise consider Mercury in Libra saying, “I need feedback to understand this or that.” Mercury is the planetary principle within us that keeps things moving too. Keep open, and be mindful of tensions that may unleash a bucket of unexpressed feelings when asked too – there is a square of Mars to this Moon!
During the month we have Sun in Virgo we are not just more attention to the details, which can be one symbolism of Virgo, but I think of it also as the management of the inner critic, the part of us that says we need to be perfect in some way for some expectation that is outside of us too. Anyone born with Pluto in Virgo (GenX) you understand this really at a deep level. Life and all the flow and the conditioning we have had and our experiences create the most cutting of inner critics within us.
This month, take note you may desire to spend more time in meditation, or extra time in your yoga practice because you will be actively engaging the part of yourself that knows the release and surrender to the place of stillness. It is the place when we really release even momentarily the inner critic, and that is where our purest potential for our lives always is. It only takes our willingness to be and not always do. Which for so many of us is so challenging, because we have been conditioned to think we must DO to be worthy of, well, pretty much anything. Ponder how often we react to something because it lands on something our inner critic has ongoing and broadcasting that no one outside of us knows.
Self-care and self-love are often about us releasing judgment on ourselves, and letting go of any guilt or shame that we need to air out from the cobwebs of our minds. As we spiral through life, we will often land in similar situations we have been because our task as evolving souls is to release anything that blocks us from our deeper knowing of our divine nature, our divinity. The Zodiac does culminate in Pisces, does it not? And begins again in Aries! The blessing of the infinite.
BEING is existing as we are without feeling we have to be doing anything to be alive, to be worthy of love receiving, and giving in the abundance of life that flows. Virgo is opposite Pisces, so playing music and enjoying whatever I find joy in is what returns me to my joy. I keep it simple. Maybe that is the maturity of my moon in Taurus when I am centered.
This month ahead, how will you set the stage with the insight that the inner critic may raise the volume? Setting an intention helps, but we can throw off our path by an unforeseen event or person that is a disruptor too. Boundaries are one way of managing disruption, but it does not always go as we plan, no matter how hard we try. However, it is still important to set them firmly, and sometimes you have to reset them too, but your intention and focus to do so remind yourself that you do love yourself to set them!
Venus in Leo desires beauty and adoration. Venus is our expression of love, and how we make connections with lovers, friends, and beloveds. With Venus in Leo and Jupiter in Aries and Mars and Saturn in air signs (Gemini and Aquarius), there are some explosive elements of FIRE and AIR when you put them together. One literally is giving the other oxygen which can turn into a fiery mix. For the actual fire season on the earth, I do not necessarily like that combination, so I would encourage being mindful when in the forests and camping. In the perspective of our relationships, the combination of Air and Fire elements in the planetary mix this month is really an accelerator for engagement. Mercury adding to the air mix in Libra will be the one dropping a question or a comment that can ignite a bit of storm.
How to work within this energy without disturbing the peace? Inner work, journaling, gardening, dancing, drawing, reading, meditating, painting, setting boundaries, taking care of your daily life routine, eating healthy foods to nourish your body, and getting enough sleep. Sometimes simply flowing with life is us remembering what our body needs, what our minds need, and what our hearts need. Three things when you pull it together.
Coming soon is Mercury stationing retrograde (in Libra), which stations on September 9th at 8 degrees, just a night prior to the coming full moon in Aries. It will be beneficial to consider what in our relationships and communications and even our perceptions need us to take a step back observe and review what is. This next week or so will build towards that energy. Mercury stationing in Libra can literally be relationships having a moment of pause and reconsideration, and that is a healthy thing for us, we just have to realize that to grow, we often need to take a moment to reflect on where we are, and where we have been and we adjust, we have conversations about how we are changing because that is our truth.
We are changing, we are growing and so are those souls we are in relationships with as well. And it can be challenging to quiet the inner critics of our worthiness, sometimes fear blocks us from the courage to acknowledge where a relationship is in its present state and that if it is not altered it will not continue. We are empowered to adjust and explore what is new for us and bring it forward within our relationships, but it is often a path that is speckled with fears that it may not be received well. I encourage you to find your center, realize what is new for you, and sit with those you care about to engage in a new dialog on where you envision your growth. Mars is about courage and that is one way to use the energy of Mars square the moon. Be prepared that it may take more than one conversation too, significant change requires time to observe, take notes and adjust. You know, even the dynamic of our companies that create products and experiences (services) do a thing called a “pilot”, they try it out in a small way first before they attempt to scale it. Same thing for relationships, new changes, new growth, new boundaries, and ways of being require us to engage in a similar way.
With Mercury’s coming retrograde from Libra to Virgo and back we will engage our observations, so your journal will come in handy to reflect and move the words out of your mind and onto the page. It is also healthy for your relationships because you can write it out first, sit with it and ponder it within the pages before bringing it forward as you have worked it out some within your being first. We are all endlessly becoming, acknowledge exactly where you are at any moment with moments of simply observing, and listening, you will find there in the present moment the least resistance, because our full presence in any moment releases the unmet desires of the past and the anticipation of a future, that all falls away and you experience the freedom of being, being in a finite world of mass and an infinite divinity of Self. Namaste. Bless this moment.
