Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 11:59 am PDT we begin a new month astrologically with a Taurus New Moon at 21 degrees 17 minutes. A moon with Black Moon Lilith at 22 degrees Taurus 20 minutes within about a degree of this lunation, but also asteroid Lilith conjunct Neptune in Pisces. Neptune at 22 degrees 39 minutes. An amplification of Lilith energy one within the sign of this new moon and the other in sextile aspect conjunct the Neptune. Mercury in Gemini and Mars in Cancer are both out of bounds as well, bringing more than one wild card to this new moon. Uranus at 11 degrees Taurus and 18 minutes add even more chance of changing dynamics that happen quickly. Mercury begins its retrograde in Gemini on May 29th that lasts for three weeks (at 24 degrees of Gemini) and on June 22nd will station direct again at 16 degrees. Mercury’s movement connects us to inner perspectives, perceptions, thought patterns, and sometimes the trickster. And within the coming weeks of a new eclipse season. We start the eclipse season, May 26th with a full moon lunar eclipse at 5 degrees 26 minutes of Sagitarrius, which highlights perhaps unexpected shifts for Jupiter ruled themes of travel, religion, and higher education. An annular solar eclipse on June 10th at 19 degrees 47 minutes Gemini, with these eclipses in mutable Sagittarius and Gemini the local community, journalists, primary education, trains and local travel, familiar favorite local spots potentially shifting through dynamic changes that are beyond our control. We often experience the energy of the eclipses the two weeks prior to and after the exact eclipses as well. Warning for those sensitive to trauma triggers around the subject of abuse, as this is part of the archetypal energy discussed briefly in this newsletter. Please stop reading if this subject is uncomfortable for you.
I sensed the Lilith archetype before I began writing as I was reading online and watching some PBS reporting clips about women on a PBS special who were forced to marry in the United States. I don’t miss the subtle cues of archetypal energies that flow when such things seem to surface in my sphere of curiosity to learn more. This published news story provided insights into the courage they took to legally remove themselves from those forced marriages. Many people perhaps do not realize how frequently this is still happening in our society even now. Some may think it only happens in other countries with traditional cultures, however, there are many states where this still occurs to young women. This month may have additional stories of women and similar experiences that are leaving or trying to leave abusive relationships that come to light. Sadly, too many end in terrible violence. Collectively we are all healing Lilith’s wounds, light a candle for all the souls who have courageously tried to liberate themselves from such wounding.
All souls are healing wounds of patriarchy. Around the world, this continues to be an ongoing tragedy and hinders our collective growth as humanity. It takes individuals acting courageously, liberating from the thinking that one has to stay in such situations, often to leave their circle of community, and to shed old belief structures for us to shed it collectively even more. It may take us a few generations but one day we may create a society for men and women that support our well-being in high equilibrium between feminine and masculine that allows for the majority to live authentically, safely, and without fear. Have you seen this in your own family or a close friend (even years ago) who was pressured to marry young as it was part of the expectation of the social circle and family circle?
Uranus in Taurus liberates stuck patterns about security too, so individuals can find themselves being lifted from old suppressive bonds. Spirit enters matter as symbolized through the Uranus archetype and acts as a liberator from a prior state of matter. Sometimes our individual experience of Uranus happens so sharply to our life experience it is recalled as trauma, until we get guidance on healing that experience physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. There have been incredible developments in therapies that release us from the suffering of a past traumatic experience. One example is the rapid eye movement technique called eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, known as EMDR. You can learn more on this subject online, I merely highlight it here to illustrate we have multiple pathways for our healing. We do not have to stay stuck in behaviors or patterns that keep our wounds from fully healing.
Interestingly, and perhaps rather symbolically three planets are at 11 degrees for this new moon in Taurus. Mars at 11 degrees of Cancer, Uranus at 11 degrees of Taurus (a sextile to Mars), and Chiron the wounded healer at 11 degrees of Aries. When there are multiple planets across the same degree as this it is like a tone of frequency that is ringing for us. Mars, the planet of action, courage, but also can take shape as anger, expressed or not. It can churn beneath the surface if we do not take heed to respond to life that empowers us.
Uranus stimulates Mars by sextile, visibly activating it — perhaps to act rather suddenly or having to act suddenly to protect someone or something. Chiron in Aries is square to Mars in Cancer, Mars rules the sign of Aries so informs the Chiron. Chiron in Aries is symbolic of wounds that arc over life-related to the “right to exist” to simple BE. Wounds of Lilith are present in this New Moon and women and men alike have Lilith wounds that sometimes are subtle, yet are so pervasive can be missed by people who do not look closely at what happens to us collectively when we do not heal them within our collective experience. With the asteroid Lilith conjunct Neptune in Pisces it is expansive and without boundaries. It is collective. This placement has me pondering the whole of life in a relationship with the feminine. The questions that bubble up that help you understand the Lilith wounds are: What is the collective experience of women of all walks of life right now? What does the masculine lose when it is out of balance with the feminine? What is the imbalance of feminine sexuality expression? What is the imbalance we collectively experience when masculine energy overrides the feminine sexually? And non-sexually? What is not grieved when the feminine is out of balance to our detriment? What is not allowed to heal? What is not allowed to exist? What is not allowed to breathe for humanity or in nature without a balance of feminine energy? The losses really go rather deep when the feminine is out of balance, don’t you think?
If you are interested to learn more about Lilith I did a video series on each and you can dive into the subject matter as you wish. Perhaps it may prompt your own healing journey with the feminine energy in your life. Masculine energy out of balance will sabotage its own capacity for love and joy in life, it puts the squeeze on allowing the softness, the simple being of life, and the trust that we have and can live a life nurtured and with our needs met, as life itself in nature is abundant. I created these videos a few years ago, but the archetype comes to light through several examples shared in the presentations if you wish to review them. Two additional sources are Tom Jacobs and Demetra George’s books on this feminine archetype.
Jupiter in Aquarius is at the last degree of Aquarius at this new moon in Taurus. On May 13th around 3:36 pm PDT, Jupiter makes its ingress into Pisces and bringing much relief to humans who have desired a much-needed addition to the water element in the planetary transits and our emotional bodies. Jupiter co-ruler of Pisces will have a new strength in a sign that is dreamy and imaginative. Art, music, and venues where we share these pursuits will be returning as we continue to emerge from the social distancing demands. What will our art and music reflect about the state of our emotional worlds that have been restrained for such an enduring time? I think it may bring an enormous amount of emotion forward for us all. It may be a delicate process for some of us too. An in-depth article will be coming soon on Jupiter in Pisces this week.
Mercury out of bounds in its own sign may have us perceiving things beyond the usual questions. Our curiosity can take us into unknown territory. Venus now in Gemini brings an added desire to communicate and be connected with our friends that lights up our curiosity and bring wit to our lives when we need it most.
Saturn will station retrograde on May 23rd at 13 degrees 31 minutes heading back over terrain it’s been the last few months. It will head back to 6 degrees 53 minutes when it will station direct again on October 10th. Saturn in Aquarius taking us back, into our homes perhaps for some of us again, back through the terrain of what it is to be collectively connected with each other — which for many will be a challenge to wear masks, even with vaccines completed by a good portion of our adult population over this summer. However, something must be reviewed and reconsidered for us during this retrograde. This period of time will also have Uranus square Saturn back for a second time that will be experienced exactly in about a month June 14th at 13 degrees 6 minutes. Natal planets at 13 degrees or within 3 degrees of that in fixed signs will feel liberating in some way after periods of restriction. As we open more of our communities will we see a return of medical concerns? Will we be collectively shocked about new insights into what we have experienced? This may be the emergence that we have been waiting for in some places. It may still be rather unpredictable or volatile in other nations around the globe depending on how the collective is responding to the needs of the whole, and for some countries, this is a monumental task, simple in the sheer numbers of souls to attend to at this time.
For some people, the past year and a few months may be the most challenging and wounding they have ever lived through at any other time in their life. It is rather a unique period because we have large sweeping collective experiences that unite us, and not in the most positive light either. We also have quite individualized experiences at the same time, where we are forced inward upon our own understanding of who we are, what we live for, and why. We are peeling layers that we would otherwise not have if not for the collective experience life has forced us to examine, together.
At this new moon in Taurus and over the month may you find new insights that liberate one more thing from the old paradigms that have hindered your expression and personal well-being. May this month bring you reminders for simplicity, and the truth of our bounty on earth if we just tend to the earth with love it supports our physical life. May this new moon bless us with liberating from any stuck place this past year has brought our lives. Life is ready to break open in new ways. Are you ready?
