Tuesday morning, November 29th, 2016 at 4:18 am Pacific Time we have a New Moon in Sagittarius at 7 degrees 43 minutes. This is near the same degree that Mars went retrograde at and Saturn stationed from retrograde to direct earlier this year at 8 degrees Sagittarius. So we know this to be a sensitive degree from these past transits and retrograde stations on within a degree of where this New Moon is today. This sensitive degree might make this new moon period a time we must be cafeful with unresolved anger and violent energy. We also may be asked to make a committment during this cycle on where and how we envision our future.
This is a unique time for making a difference, a good way to channel fire energy into causes that you care about deeply for the future. We have veterans in the interest of standing up for human rights and protecting our environment and even the law for the Indigenous Native Americans for their land. December 4th is only a few days away is when these veterans are expected on the scene at Standing Rock to support the many tribes and activist there. With Jupiter in Libra, the New Moon in Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, we have expansive energy at play for this lunar month related to social issues, fairness, balance and justice. From where I am in West Richland, WA the rising sign of this new moon is Scorpio, adding another layer to the Mars and Pluto energy. With the rising sign in Scorpio, the New Moon falls within the second house, the house of our value system, our self-worth and our money comes into focus. Also with Saturn and Mercury in latter degrees of Sagittarius. More importantly this New Moon is square to the nodal axis at 8 degrees 05 min Virgo and Pisces (near Neptune at 9 degrees). This alone puts us at a juxtaposition, confusion is possible with this mix, not knowing what to ask, not knowing what to have faith in for solid ground. This is ever so present for us, especially in the USA as we push for higher quality in our news sources. Have you had a hard time figuring out what news was truth or half-truth or satire or absolutely fake news? You are not alone! This cycle emphasizes our confusion. It’s not only happening in the USA, due to the expansive nature of the Internet. We may as a collective be wrestling with how we handle our news, reporting truth and factual versus being neutral. Watch for this as this will be an issue that we will continue to address in the month and years ahead.
With Saturn in Sagittarius we have a combination of expanse from Jupiter that rules Sagittarius and Saturn the symbol for hard work, discplined focus, committment to a quest, in second house one might ask how are you committing yourself to your livelihood that offers you an income and is that in alignment with your value system? Are you working against your values somehow? How is your thinking (Mercury) flowing for your external expression of growth (Jupiter) or spiritual fulfillment? Sagittarius is the sign of the centaur, one that wrestles between higher and lower qualities (half man half anmial). It’s an effort to balance both and live fully. Shawn Nygaard’s article in the Dec/Jan 2017 issue of The Mountain Astrologer, “Welcome to the Jungle” or Back to the Wild Frontier Reflections on Saturn in Sagittarius is a great article that dives into this quandery of balance between the man and animal within us all.* He writes, “A parallel dynamic in Greek myth tells that the wild horse was given to man by Poseidon, while the horse’s bridle and reins came from Athena, the goddess of wisdom and civilization. This relationship between the wild and the controlled, the uncultivated and the domesticated, the savage and the civilized, and ultimately between animal and human (animal nature and human nature), is inherent to the very nature of double bodied, mutable Sagittarius.” Our lives require us to express our animal parts of ourselves to be fulfilled with the human civilized aspects of ourselves however we do this literally or from our imaginations through our art, music and dance. Jupiter in this New Moon is about four degrees from an exact opposition to Uranus in Aries, the symbolism within Libra where Jupiter is located and Aries where Uranus is also is banging loudly on the drum for individual self awareness within relationship with others. True to self and within a balanced relationship of growth.
The Sabian Symbol of 8 degrees Sagittarius for this New Moon is “Deep within the depths of the Earth, new elements are forming.” Deep inner workings yet to be seen. Consider what happens over time with pressure from the Earth and new elements forming, makes one wonder what gem is being created? When I read this Sabian Symbol it made me think of the teachings of Abraham via Esther Hicks where when we view a reality we do not like we are sending out multiple rockets of desire for what we do desire. I wonder at this present moment, how many rockets of desire are being launched on what millions desire for environment, peace, health, stability, faith, truth, respectful exchange, justice and so many more subjects I cannot list them all. What we desire and take action on today, NOW, the present moment determines our future. I am hopeful for all these ‘rockets of desire’ and call you to action on every one you can with determined focus of your will.
The New Moon is our time to plant new seeds and intentions for our growth (Jupiter), but it requires our discipline and focus (Saturn) to foster the growth required for a healthy outcome. Today is a great day to begin. Namaste, Sarrah
