Thursday before dawn breaks at 3:57:11 am PST on January 11, 2024, we begin a new lunar month with the new moon in Capricorn at 20° 44’. This new moon is in a square aspect with the lunar nodes in Aries-Libra with Chiron conjunct the north node in Aries at 15° 33’. This t-square energetic combination is dynamic with things turning on and happening quickly, or stopping, beginnings and endings flowing in our experiences. There is the potential for power dynamics with Pluto in Capricorn within the mix a nine degree orb, but still relevant. Changing power structures and new will emerge from the shifting powers. These shifts could be important people in organizations that shift the sands for many people in connection to their shifting roles of responsibilities.
This new moon in Capricorn is an intense emotional month ahead for us all. Be mindful of suppression of your feelings, give yourself permission to take time out briefly to actually allow your feelings to inform you of where you are at any given moment. We often are so focused on the prize or the milestone that the present slips away and we fall out of balance with too much focus on another time and place for a goal we have or we have been driving for so long we have lost ourselves in the pursuit of it. Newsflash: Humans were never meant for 24/7/365 productivity for an economy that is always on. Nope. Humans need sleep and real rest, nutrition, touch, nurturing and connection. We are in a battle with this idea and this condition of our society. The old paradigm is in its death throes, can you feel it? How will you (we) evolve as that reality and idea fades away, as that past becomes more of a historical note day by day, it is and has been unsustainable. The trine of Uranus (liberator) at 19° Taurus (retrograde) to this new moon is the potential to see changing trends in supply and demand of goods, the impact of rates on the real estate market, though possibly poised for change this spring given the fact that Jupiter will make the conjunction with Uranus April 20th this spring.
We may add responsibilities to our list of long range projects that will require us to shore up our strength and build fortitude. Both this moon and Mars are out of bounds. There will be intensity of burden and melancholy, but also some will feel the need to roll-up their sleeves and get working on what is a long game vision. Mars out of bounds will likely be expressed in violence too, because so many souls have suppressed anger and it often comes out distorted through violence. Long vision goals or projects will not be done overnight, it will take an immense amount of energy but positively this Mars is cunning or strategic, it has a quality of creating something new and pioneering if all the right individuals are engaged to do their highest work.
At first the way forward is a dense fog, littered with obstacles with Mercury in Sagittarius at 27° (on the Galactic Center) which is in a square with Neptune in Pisces. The cosmic planetary timing reminds us that we have to have faith that where we are headed is in the right direction, though we have to ask for guidance from within if we feel like we are off our path of purpose. The two are separating so the fog will begin to dissipate as Mercury moves into Capricorn on January 13 (Saturday). There are viral potentials that need to be navigated with proper planning. Venus in Sagittarius at 15° is also applying to a conjunction with Ceres in Sagittarius at 19° and also applying in the coming week to square with Neptune. However Venus in a trine aspect with Chiron in Aries at 15° is in a great position to share your beliefs or discuss feminine principles in society and current events, as they can lead to new thoughts and potentials for healing the way women and the feminine historically have been suppressed. And the Golden Globe awards on Tuesday night are an example of this opening for individuals to express how women are portrayed and seen (Chiron in Aries is the existential crisis and being visible to the world). Women are expressing this crisis of Self in a myriad of ways and the way the dialog and jokes were written and delivered for the Golden Globes last night just reiterate how this still seems to be the drum beat of our collective in the US being put before an audience of millions. Mercury in Sagittarius squaring Neptune in Pisces were revealed in that production because for millions of people it was clear those jokes about describing the movies Barbie and Oppenheimer fell flat and were met with a backlash of comments by millions. But that is just one more example of astrology revealing the archetypal energies. Sad, maybe one day we’ll wake up, and only when we do will we step into a more evolved conscious collective. The astrology of the moment speaks and reveals the truth of the energy in flow, Venus earlier in the week was square to Saturn, but perhaps this is more the aspect that venus is forming with Neptune in the coming week about the disillusionment, or the way the feminine is wiped out or erased from the conversations and the public discourse. Consider this project (Miss Representation) about feminine voices, it reveals so much about how deep this issue goes.
During this month observe how this theme will be amplified and magnified when the moon is in Aries around the 16th-17th and again when the moon is in Cancer on the 22nd-24th. The full moon will be in Leo on January 25th and in that chart Venus is in a Yod aspect with Saturn and the Leo Moon at the apex, with the Sun and Pluto in opposition to the apex point in the moon. It really grabs my attention for what will be illuminated in this lunar cycle about power and women in power and humanitarian groups? We are likely to see the emotional limits (the ceiling) within ways the masculine is and behaves in our society. It will be amplified and for us to continue the work of revealing the shadow and healing it, which means taking courageous action (Mars) and using our voices (Mercury/Venus). I think it rather iconic that we all have observed two movies in high focus one being Barbie (on feminine and masculine out of balance realities in a uniquely designed sugar pill to be consumed) and Oppenheimer a historical movie on our collective masculine expression at wartime in WWII and our move into higher responsibility with our power and how devastating to everything it is when we do not understand how far reaching that power is. The contrast and themes amplify the breadth of toxic masculinity we have collectively been navigating for the decades and longer. The divine timing of these to be presented to us collectively for our conscious considerations in the same moment!
This month the biggest planetary movements are Pluto returning to the sign of Aquarius on January 20th and Uranus stationing direct in Taurus on January 27th at 19° 5’ and. Unexpected events are amplified with Uranus and that energy is in a trine (easy flow) aspect with this new moon in Capricorn, as winter settles in deeper in the northern hemisphere. The dynamic cardinal energy and the wild card energy from Mars and Moon being out of bounds (beyond the sun’s ecliptic) hype the moon and emotional energy up a few notches. This plays out in dynamics of deeper felt restrictions by our Saturnian burdens, melancholy goes deeper and harder to shake off with what we have done in the past. This requires more attention and presence, acknowledging that this time we have to go deeper into the places of our mind where we create these ruts and increase our burden. Where can we focus our attention to acknowledge our emotions? Humans need expression and the more we realize and tune into our feelings they will act like smoke signals to help us know how we are feeling. I think so many souls really do not understand what they are feeling and have lost their connections to themselves through their conditioning in early life. Many children have issues that stem from how they were able to express themselves or not with their parents. How many children in the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s now adults in 40’s, 50’s and 60’s were able to freely cry and actually find the way through a feeling supported by their parents? Consider how deep this really goes and the importance of TIME on this observation. Time (memory) helps us see ourselves, our connections and our behaviors in response to different situations and environments. One shadow side potential of this new moon in Capricorn is being too rigid to not seize the moment or an opportunity that serendipitously opens up. This new moon is evoking ample energy for pioneering new chapters. Did you know how important it is to feel all your feelings?
South node Libra with Venus as its ruling planet reminds us that we are surrendering something about our relationship to others, but we are always responsible for how we communicate and that is why it is important to understand how we are feeling and our emotional responses, this includes how we project and perceive masculine and feminine energies and where we are out of balance. True harmonious and interdependent relationships comes from the balance of feminine and masculine, moving into equilibrium. We have a ways to go, but I think with every brave voice that speaks up for this to be realized we step closer into that reality. May this month ahead inspire you to take courageous action to give voice to women’s rights, or other ways in which we are collectively balancing the feminine and masculine archetypes. Namaste. Bless this moment.
