Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 11:39 am PDT the moon is full in the sign of Capricorn at 3 degrees 27 minutes. This full moon’s Sabian Symbol is 4 degrees of Capricorn with the image, a party entering a large canoe. Additional insights shared by Blain Bovee of this symbol is the reality of what is needed to get someone on board with you, as a way to someone’s heart. And that this symbol captures something of scents, such as earthy scents of rosemary, sage, pinecones, apple cider, and cinnamon. With a lovely trine between Jupiter and the Sun in Cancer at 3 degrees of this full moon, there will be a return to some ease and the desire to adventure out and lose oneself in a new place. There are layers of interesting symbolism within this Sabian Symbol. After the recent intensity of the eclipse season and Mercury now moving directly after a few weeks retrograde, it is not surprising to have a moon that is more inclined to focus on responsibilities and grounded connections.
Mercury rules the chart from my location in the Tri-Cities and in general the west coast will have Virgo rising at this full moon, adding to the significance of Mercury at the moment of this full moon. Mercury, recently stationed direct, is conjunct Black Moon Lilith and the Midheaven which symbolically brings up the shadow experiences and the feminine archetype which can be challenging to understand, as it is a place within the self of wounding for all humans. You can learn more about Black Moon Lilith in this video I did a few years ago HERE.
Wounds of the patriarchy may get energized in communication, especially those ruled by Mercury (Gemini/Virgo Ascendant, Sun or Moon) and high potential with young women, students, and places where young people gather together in the community. Betrayals, abandonment, jealousy, anger, and rage are some themes that emerge that are basically a yield sign that shadow work is needed, which is a deep dive with the theme. Now with Mercury direct in motion, what can be looked at in the fine details and with Mercury picking up speed? What is ripe for some new support and structure now that we have all been through the review phase when Mercury was retrograde? Writing in a journal is a great way to begin the process of exploring the shadows that emerge that are activated now.
Let’s consider a broad example of this full moon and the planetary aspects of that moment and what is unfolding in my local area. Locally in my state, and in my community in the Tri-Cities of Washington, we continue to emerge from the pandemic as more people get immunizations and return to activities. There are many still wearing masks as precautions too, which is a healthy thing considering that some elect not to be immunized. More people are attending events, such as the local minor league baseball games, picnics, boating, and outings with loved ones are noticeable at every park and near the rivers here to keep cool as the summer heat rises. This full moon may see families more publicly, as the Sun in Cancer is in the 10th house, with the moon below at the exact full moon lunation. When the moon rises Thursday night it will illuminate the summer night sky.
There are a few more challenging aspects in this full moon as well. Mars is inconjunct this full moon widely but may show up as an underlying tension for some in relation to others that dominate the spotlight for some reason. More importantly, Mars is applying to a square with Uranus in Taurus and an opposition with Saturn which is retrograde in Aquarius at 12 degrees. This will be dynamic and from what we have observed can show up as unexpected violence. Food-related events or technology such as systems for air travel or crypto-currencies, or similarly themed Taurus/Aquarius can experience disruption suddenly with Mars in a hard aspect. Mars is the trigger, where Saturn is the authority or system structure.
Uranus in Taurus shows where the volatility opens, sudden events that can bring chaos. Keep in mind Venus, which rules Taurus is under high tension. We are building tension through the next two weeks for Mars, Venus and Saturn. Mercury also has the challenge of applying by square to Neptune in Pisces. And when Mercury is square Neptune, accidents in water have higher potentials. Plans may go off course, while the tension to create something or get something to work continues to grow.
Consider the weather in your local area (what is the ruling sign is for your local area at the full moon) as an example with all the high tension at this full moon. What is happening in storms or excessive weather right now? Where I live we will have record temperatures next week, it is forecasted to hit over 113 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday and record-breaking temperatures for the coast over next week. This is extreme heat and will put tension on the systems that operate to keep us cool, and our crops will need extra water. Some areas around the Seattle area simply do not have the cooling systems for this kind of heat and it will be incredibly uncomfortable and dangerous for some people who are unable to get relief from it. Many will seek water as a way to keep cool and with Jupiter, in Pisces trine, the Sun in Cancer will find what they need. Keep in mind your local area may experience different types of extremes with this hard aspect combination of Mars, Saturn, and Uranus.
Those on the west coast notice that the local environment (3rd house) is Scorpio, ruled by Mars and Pluto, kind of seems like a little bit of hell is just about to unfold. Mars here, as a trigger, can bring fires, both actual and metaphorical ones too. What are you going to do to keep your cool? Fires are not something I want to forecast, but the symbolism for electrical and fire combinations is a potential. I pray for stillness and no wind. Jupiter in Pisces does help, though now retrograde at 2 degrees Pisces, is sextile this Capricorn Moon so there is support.
Venus in Cancer (27 degrees) is in tight opposition with Pluto in Capricorn at 26 degrees, which will feel incredibly challenging for Venus-ruled individuals. Mars in Leo can also be leaders, managers, and supervisors having to jump into action with this combination. There will be something that is demanding and authoritarian that opposes their desire for nurturing those they love. It is more than just a pinch on Venus in Cancer, this is a transformation time. A sharp contrast to what is emotionally needed.
The supportive aspects of this full moon are Jupiter in Pisces at 2 degrees makes a lovely trine with the Cancer Sun at 3 degrees. There is support for our homes, family life, and our emotional expression and nurturing. Often new things to heal emerge when we feel safe to do the work. It can be the combination of feeling safe in one way, but then because of that inner landscape feeling, it is an opening for deeper healing that emerges from a dream, or interaction, or a moment of synchronicity so it is undeniable something grabs your attention. Sometimes shadow emerges unexpectedly simply by who we are spending time with if we have not done so in a long while and that ignites the next level of healing.
Families will be gathering more in the next two weeks as we near a national holiday, the 4th of July is just a week and a half away. Perhaps in all the unexpected detours and traveling challenges, we find that we know more than ever who and what makes us feel nurtured and safe. How much more is family cherished now, in 2021 compared to late 2019? Or you absolutely know who is not safe for your own well-being in your inner circle, even within your family of origin. Sometimes our families are the ones we create who authentically love and support us and where we feel safe to share our inner world.
One global event, which we have all been moving through together as humans, really changes us all and changes so many things. Perhaps none more important than us realizing with a new perspective what we value most and who makes up our inner circle, who we call family, and where we also feel the sense of duty to ensure they know they are cared for and loved.
May this full moon you realize the legacy you are creating and how those relationships support you and the circle of love that surrounds you. And in that space of love, what new landscapes beckon you?
Namaste. Bless this moment.
