This Tuesday, December 26, 2023, the moon reaches full illumination in the sign of Cancer at 4:33 PT, PST. It may feel cozy, or it may feel like the urge to find a sweet space of solitude and listen, feel into the spaces within our souls that have been waiting for our quiet contemplations. However it may feel for you, be sure your space is comforting and provides your soul a sense of security. A moon in an easy flow aspect with Saturn in Pisces, prayers and conversations with our creator illuminate life and wisdom while in reflection. I find myself relaxing into this small moment on Christmas day to write a few words, tea steaming in my cup beside me. It’s been an unusual year for many. My own dreams I had put into a digital vision board that took roads I did not desire, yet thought might be potential.
We all have times where our dreams lose energy by the direction of things beyond our control. We are creators and manifestors, but we are not the only conductors of the stream of things. Our lives fold in with others and larger stories. We may learn more from those experiences because it did not go as planned, we may reflect on the five W’s of who, what, where, when, and whys of things. And it is possible that only through that other path you land in places that illuminates something for your soul that you really needed for another phase of growth. I feel that may be the situation for many souls this year. It may be a time that one comes to realize in their moments of self reflection their own needs, for self care and tenderness for their soul so they come to new understandings of their needs. I sense we are clearing these inner spaces for something that opens in the coming weeks and new year. So much about life is listening to the inner world, the subtle vibrations and sensations that are preeminent of coming big changes. Do you feel it too?
In just over three weeks Pluto returns to the sign of Aquarius, in the waves of potential it feels like a huge leap in evolutionary potential for us collectively coming in 2024, even though Pluto first emerged in Aquarius this past March 23, 2023. I wonder, are we ready for this leap? I cannot help but ponder the leaps in technology that will come in this next year. I wonder about our collective maturity. Perhaps like a mother, observing their teenagers wondering about their maturity the year before they leap into the world as young adults. There is a lot of trust in the universal, and faith in their potentials that is part of that awareness. This moment feels like that, an almost nervous excitement mixed with potentials of a near blank slate. What are you feeling? What are you wondering about the days ahead?
Mercury is retrograde and has nearly a week to reach its position of stationing direct in Sagittarius. The Mercury at this full moon illumination is in the degrees of the galactic center (and my sun within a degree). Mercury in Sagittarius stimulates our philosophy and idealism rather than facts and logic. Mercury and Mars near their exact conjunction, which happens on Wednesday around 4:30 pm PST. Reuniting since both planets connected October 29th in Scorpio. So much has transpired in the weeks since their last conjunction and will likely inspire new inspired actions that take off in the new year. They (Mercury and Mars) meet again January 27, 2024, just before the sun rises here in Washington at 17 degrees 17 minutes Capricorn. This conjunction happens in a trine aspect with Uranus in Taurus at 19 degrees while Uranus stations direct. It can be an incredible moment, one that has long-lasting effects and energetic waves that we may be speaking about for some time. I think the volcano in Iceland right now may be really interesting at that time, as it is such a literal manifestation of the “crust breaking open” that we get with Uranus in Taurus. I wonder also about our personal breakthroughs that emerge with far reaching foundations over this next year as another way to explore the archetypal energies.
This full moon in Cancer is sextile Jupiter in Taurus which is slowing its speed in the heavens from our perspective as it will be stationing December 30th. Acknowledging our blessings opens our hearts to align our connected hearts to connection with the universal flow. I am listening to music as I write this, it is Butterfly, Butterfly (The Last Hurrah) a song by the group A-ha. And these lyrics speak something for me at this moment. A few reasons why this fits this moment for me is this song at the time of it being released in 2010 for their ‘25’ album, a last single before they were to retire. And yet, they came back, returning more than once to share their creative works, fortunately for the world. It reminds me that we may feel the need to place a bookend on a chapter before the next chapter will reveal its inspirations to us.
This moment feels like this song’s essence, as this full moon will wane, and Mercury stations direct January 1, we move into a year of something significant for ourselves. Of course, all music we individually interpret for our feeling that a song gives us. A new year emerging, a fresh take on how we want to express ourselves in life individually and collectively. Do you know what the fifth in-star translates for me? Our fifth chakra is our throat chakra. The gateway between our lower body (instinctual primal desires of self) and our heads (and is guided by principles of expression and communication). The transformations of how we see ourselves and how we creatively express our natures as we emerge. From another lens, we do not need our creativity to mean anything, when we simply create as the joy of being creative. I feel this myself. The Virgo-Pisces differences of creativity. I think as Mercury stations direct and return back to Capricorn where it started this retrograde cycle I will have more insights on the feelings of what I am noticing today and that I have noticed in the past week for my own journey.
How beautiful it is to devote time to master a skill creatively and then to be absolutely free to express something that opens from the heart’s inspirations. We give ourselves our own permission to express ourselves in any medium without having to label it or give it any meaning, purely for the joy of being. At a Cancer full moon this feels like a safe home to me. Simply creating for the pleasure of creating, no deadline, no pressure, no meanings, no judgment, no need to share it or explain it.
This is the continuing theme of throat chakra (expression and communication) I have had since the new moon. My last blog and the significance of the Pyramid (Bull Mountain or Mount Taurus) as Robert Edward Grant has illuminated more in the past few years is poking into my present awareness once again. The most recent findings in the great Pyramid that align to the throat chakra and our collective emergence to a new level. The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Taurus (a new synodic cycle for these two planets) happening next year around April 21, 2024, also highlights the throat chakra “breaking open” to new awareness. Themes around the expansion around our powerful voices as creators. If you are learning about chakras, this is a great article posted on the throat chakra, which may inspire you for your own healing to live and speak your truth.
The lyrics of Butterfly, Butterfly that stand out to me are bolded:
Flying into the wind
You can be sure of it
That’s no place to begin
Over thinking every little thing
Acknowledge the bell you can’t unring
Tomorrow
You don’t have to say what you’re thinking
You don’t have to mean what you say
Butterfly, butterfly
Flutter into the skies
Butterfly, butterfly
Their molecular cries
Chrysalis dream waiting on the fifth in-star
These stained glass winds could only take you so far
You don’t have to say that is matters
You don’t have to turn something in
Stay with it through thick and thin
Butterfly,
Butterfly
Tomorrow
You don’t have to mean what you say
Left without a reason to stay
Comes the last hurrah
Here’s our last hurrah
Butterfly
Butterfly
Butterfly
You can be sure of it
Butterfly

May this full moon and the remaining days of this year 2023 offer you stillness and respite to hear and feel the waves of your heart’s desires that you will express with coming pleasure as old parts of yourself fade into completed chapters. Savor these recent past moments before the new page is turned, sifting through the beauty and grief of what you once lived. Turning it over a few times appreciating the interlude of states of being, the slow melting ice cube from your drink as it dissolves between your tongue and cheeks. Relish the striking contrast to your own body heat and warmth. Your storylines emerging with seeds of possibilities floating in on the colorful soulful whispers you speak aloud in the dark. The breath of life and given form, imbued with light, your light that is called forth from your inner eyes, you flow as you imagine the benevolent skies of your heaven.
Namaste. Bless this moment.
