This year’s spring equinox occurs Monday, March 20th at 2:24 pm PDT. The Sun enters Aries starting us into a new year of the sun traveling through the twelve signs. This year is quite unique. When the Sun enters Aries this year, the moon is in Pisces at the equinox, and this sets us a tone for a balsamic phase moon which is important to understand what that means across the spring season, but also the year. A sensitive and balsamic moon phase is the waning of light on the moon, it symbolizes going within, withdrawing from the external to look within and listen deeply within for there we will receive the first whispers of the seeds of our future. Pluto in 29 degrees of Capricorn is really important to consider for this Aries ingress. It reminds me that this astrology year (until next year’s Aries ingress) will have ending themes that are quite pronounced. It is a time to pay attention to what is unfolding and ask why. It is really a good time if one has not yet, to observe how things are connected, how life flows in cycles, and that there are patterns (in history) available to us to make connections about how things collectively come together similar yet with different themes, opportunities to evolve if we are able to see the pattern and disrupt it in a new more evolved context.
This Aries ingress of the sun symbolically is a beacon loud and clear that we have many things that are completing, closing chapters, for what is coming. This symbolism of closing chapters and endings is not just in the Aries ingress chart, but also in the fact of another big planetary cycle ending – Pluto is about to make its first ingress into Aquarius on March 23rd. As I have noted before, Pluto will make its first ingress and that will be powerful – yet not fully making a huge movement in that sign until 2024. As we will have several themes ending with Pluto in Capricorn that are happening across 2023 and 2024.
The rising sign of the Aries ingress chart for Washington, D.C. is Virgo, a mutable sign. This is important then that we look at the charts for each of the seasons this year as they let us know how each season will be framed, things will be very changeable across each of the seasons so that is the practice of mundane in when to explore other charts for the year based on what mode the rising sign is in the Aries ingress chart. This Aries ingress chart Mercury, the ruler in the 8th house of death, taxes, and taboo subjects, but also the 8th house is a perspective of the “other” and their values and money. Mercury in Aries is instinctual. The moon in the Aries ingress chart from a national perspective is symbolic of the people. This moon is emotional feeling focused on others, about to make a conjunction with Neptune emphasizing more emotion or confusion, or the wipeout if overwhelmed, with a Mercury (perceptions and communications) in the sign of Aries where there is sharpness and two things come into focus either instinctual bravery or the frustrated voice of anger.
Where will you focus as a participating soul in the national experience this year or even this season? Perhaps you will be focusing on debt, taxes, or death, or perhaps a combination of those themes. Perhaps your studies in the occult such as astrology help you see more of yourself and your path in life. What information is in a hidden place or has been put out of our view? This is important in this chart because Mercury is the rising sign ruler of the chart (Virgo rising for the Washington DC chart). It symbolically says – we have a blind spot in this moment that we cannot yet see. It is related to our self-worth, and our need for humility in our approach to our expression collectively, but I also see this Mercury is positioned in the place of exile. These are a few themes that we may consider, and then I am sure you will agree another opportunity to ask why. Why might we collectively in the United States consider humility in the next few months and perhaps over the year? What is hidden from our view and really important to consider for our collective identity and why is that important at this collective moment now?
I like to ask questions and get curious about WHY – and that helps my mind and connection be connected to the collective unconscious of everything. From your lens of perception you can ask the same question, but you may get a different answer, but maybe similar in proximity. By asking WHY it starts the conversation with the universe and that can come in different waves of messages for me to understand an enormous subject. Perhaps you can try exploring how you get answers to your questions too. That is my invitation in this newsletter. Your life has a unique lens of perception and so the universe will provide feedback explicitly for you and your lens of understanding and point of perception. Synchronicities for you will be uniquely framed for your awareness and how it makes you pause in the flow of life. It gets your attention from wherever you are in any moment.
From the point of perspective where I live in the Tri-Cities metro of Washington state at the moment of the Aries ingress, the rising sign is Leo. Which amplifies the Sun in Aries (the Sun is the planetary ruler of Leo) and in the chart here it is in the 9th house. Ninth house themes are higher education, secondary education in our system (high school), legislative branch of government, those that study and practice law, the police in the system that supports the law, but also teaching and philosophy. Jupiter is really accentuated in the chart symbolism is high for pioneering or extra energy outwardly expressed (an expansion) in our world. Is it communications Mercury is also in Aries, but that may be the “outspoken” voice we may collectively hear at this time. There is possibly an “outcry” to something related to the schools or education in our community that is really important for the community. Something manifests related to that theme that may ignite more conversations or dialog on the matter. Mars in Gemini reminds me symbolically that there are two strong points of view and to consider duality. The Moon is always an important factor in considering any moment, as it translates “light” in other words information to us quickly on earth, and where the moon will translate light through making aspects to other planets. This Moon in Pisces is near exact sextile with Uranus (sudden realization or energy disrupted) and then will be conjunct with Neptune in Pisces creating a fuzzy view, then square Mars as the result of that last fuzzy understanding of something but instinctually folks will speak out before having enough information on the matter. It will be good discernment on our part to slow the speed down by pausing and considering that it may be early to determine the full impact or impression of something for us to determine on how we feel immediately about what is unfolding. There’s something hidden (8th house) that may take a little longer to integrate.
I already know some of these unfolding for the community where I live, but this will bring us a collective answer of the flow of recent events. This may and other themes archetypally frame that tension dynamically.
The Venus in Taurus with the North Node also in Taurus in the 10th house here locally is good for business and merchants. That is promising news for many small businesses that may have been experiencing months with less than exciting exchange. I am curious to see how that translates over positively for homes in our area. Will there be a positive season in comparison to say last year’s season for homes here? That is actually an interesting area to consider for simply observing. Interest rates have been high with inflation consideration. Yet will that be something (a positive shift) reflected in here for this year? Venus in Taurus has a multitude of ways it may manifest, but it is important to realize that Venus in Taurus is in its domicile. It has the strength to produce or yield the results of something with attention, especially aligned with peace, organic beauty, the fertile earth that supports us and more. I provide one example relative to assets such as properties and homes. More interesting again from the micro-lens of the individual is, if I live here and I am buying or selling a home or starting a business now what does it reflect symbolically for my life experience, interests, and desires for the coming year? There are times when things may be more in alignment within the macro context that supports your desired outcomes. But we all have to take action to focus the energy in some way. And then get curious about the idea — am I directing the energy or am I receiving it, or are both true? Have you ever wondered why you get inspired to do a thing?
We will have many themes to consider, but what I appreciate about the exploration of the mundane is how does the Aries ingress overlay for my experience and what I may find interesting to consider in my life in this season and year. I like to share to you what I am finding through studies and observations, and in that sharing perhaps it will spark your own questions about how you might also look at life in observation through this same lens. That’s really a big reason I take the time to write. I really value the focus I also get when I sit to compose the blog and bring the symbolism into real-life experiences. You will connect on the points that resonate the highest for you.
We all have macro points of perception and micro or our individual. And that is why there is value to each individual to observe the astrology and understand themselves within a larger context, of their individual important relationships, work, and environment for work, to where things may be in focus for new mastery and discipline (duty) with Saturn (now in Pisces), to where life is expanding and giving energy via (Jupiter). Living in our world of duality (yin and yang within one) is rather fascinating as to how we may perceive and derive meaning for ourselves. Mercury in Aries, which is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo will be interesting to consider for fire season, in another view I’d use location astrology of the Aries on the map to see where there may be areas on the map that have higher potentials for fires, especially related to lightning (Uranus in Taurus). To overlay the two may be an interesting exercise to do in the coming weeks.
I created a podcast earlier this month with astrologer Wade Caves on the Aries ingress. I am learning more each time I produce these podcasts. I think you will really enjoy the podcast and gain a lot of insights from it for this season and year. Wade is a wonderful, intelligent astrologer that I have befriended in the astrology community and whose work and approach to astrology I really enjoy. I think you will see why in this podcast. It takes time to figure out the production process of podcasting, so I welcome your feedback. On my YouTube channel, your likes and comments will really help me know that this effort is being received. I really love to hear from you, it helps me know that what I am producing is interesting to you and that it sparks inspiration or helps you connect on something new that may not have been in your view and how that sparks new growth. Life is interesting, and complex and I enjoy exploring many topics with astrology. Have a wonderful spring and may your mind be curious as ever about life and what it helps you see about yourself in relationship with all the many things of your world around you!
Bless this moment. Namaste.
