Friday, January 27, 2017 at 4:07 PM PST we have the New Moon in Aquarius. Aquarius, the human archetype of the zodiac, known as the water bearer. Aquarius is an fixed air sign, bringing a stability for the moment and the energy of the rebel, the independent thinker and freedom lover. Aquarian sun signs are characterized as the humanitarians that work for the greater whole of a society, it is a group focused archetype. Aquarian energy is objective when it comes to emotions, looking at things from a larger perspective. For this moment, the New Moon in Aquarius is on the Sabian Symbol “A flag turned into an eagle”. For many of us in the USA, we are acutely focused to our society from the recent inauguration of our new President. The symbol as shared by Blain Bovee on his blog, is it is akin to stories larger than life. Interesting wouldn’t you say on the symbol given our recent news stories? He says, “When a story takes on a life of its own, sometimes it can lift the spirits of ordinary men and women in truly dramatic ways.” “The key for all Aquarius 9 manifestations, is to be in possession of your self, rather than in the possession of a voracious emotion or belief.” Wow, that’s really dynamic for the current moment. I like to look at different perspectives on the same.
Lynda Hill, well known for her work on the Sabian Symbols offers this, “this symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to speak about your ideals and passions and to spread the message far and wide. You can have powerful messages of serious ideals, sometimes political, sometimes not. One can see a “Flag” and salute it or not. It usually depends on what the flag is signifying. Your ideas, ideals, gifts, talents, inventions, realizations are all your “Flag”. To release these into the environment is the “Turning Into an Eagle.” It is the taking off and flying that allows the energy to be released.” I want to contrast Blain’s input with Lynda’s on the Sabian symbol as I think it really speaks eloquently in both examples as the images describe our the current moment, the need for objectivity in how we express ourselves. Some people may express their belief or idea emotionally without connecting to their genuine story which would bring increased authenticity and connection with people. There are many voices sounding off connecting their ideas to something beyond, greater than themselves, some with genuine hope. It is the follow-up action to the activists march with another community focused event to continue their work. It is the individual who takes their vision and moves into action realizing they are empowered. In the shadow form it is propaganda, which indeed is quite prevalent everywhere we look in the media now and figuring out what’s real.
This New Moon chart also has Uranus, the great-awakener, modern ruler of Aquarius in Aries, where the independent, freedom-loving individuality is bursting in for change. Saturn is the traditional ruler of Aquarius, so I always consider for Aquarius as well. Saturn is still transiting the sign of Sagittarius, pushing us to make commitments, discern our belief systems and what is law. Jupiter in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries is emphasizing the social justice themes as well and with the highest of tensions too. What is socially right for the individual? For a country? For a state? Mars ruler of Aries is at the critical 29 degree of Pisces 49′ about to ingress into his own domicile. With Mars at the critical degree of Pisces, it is like the hand-grenade pin pulled but under water, the image is urgency and it most astrologers look at the 29th degree of any sign as karmic in nature, like “you absolutely, unequivocally must get it right this time!” Pisces is the collective it’s the sign of the humanitarian who is driven by a higher level of consciousness. Mars in Pisces can also be the spiritual warrior for the collective, how we use our Mars energy is quite important for our wholeness. Aquarius is also modern technology, we may see new beginnings in tech in some capacity. Aquarius is known for it’s friendly nature and its a good time for friendships of all sorts and appreciating the unique eccentricity of our friends.
