Another day of deep contemplation of Aphrodite (Venus) symbolism. I’m pondering the ‘Ludovisi Throne’ or ‘Throne of Venus’ from the Villa Ludovisi, Aphrodite “emerging from sea foam” and this is an image from meisterdrucke.uk/fin-art-prints/ done by Hippolyte Lalaisse Deveria. The name Hippolyte is the Greek name that means -“unleashing of horses” or “freer of horses”. The name comes for the Greek words hippos which means “horse” and “luo “which means “to lose” or “set free”. The name Lalaise=discomfort or lack of well-being, not of Greek, but more French from mal= bad and aise= ease. If is similar with Laoise (a feminine Irish name) = “famous warrior”. In Amharic (perhaps a deeper origin), the name means dear. Other meanings include Grace and Rejuvenate. Going deeper, it also is noted name of growing in Oromoo which Oromoo in the context of Kush language is understood as “people of the land” and Orma= “children of the earth” or “sons of men”. (Kush spoken in what is today present day Ethopia and parts of Sudan). And the other name is Devéria which is an unknown origin, (per names.org), though the name Everia of African origin (Zambia) means “companionship, love and loyalty”, I wonder if the name Deveria and Everia are similar as opposites…the letter D makes me think it may mean opposites maybe…maybe polarity of companionship/love/loyalty is a worthy consideration for the name Devéria. The reason I go on these deep dives on meanings of names is because of “As above so below, so below as above” and this Aphrodite marble stone image (a black and white image) is symbolic of “As above so below so below as above”….so it offers little nuggets of clues to the gems of what is hidden in the mysteries, especially if that imagery is Aphrodite (or other Greek gods of the Pantheon and older, I’ll explain more on that later). The point to ponder is what is being ILLUMINATED in the contemplation of what is visible and then what it speaks to of the INVISIBLE…that which in spirit. So this contemplation is a bit of knowledge on the mysteries, the experience of BEING MIND, BODY, SPIRIT — Mind also is Psyche. The Throne of Venus (Aphrodite) is symbolically a reminder of our physical body emerged (in nature) and tied to our spiritual body, and Aphrodite is symbolic of the part of us (I think as I explore this deeper) that is ultimately LOVE. And we may experience this in life as LOVE, GRACE, and BEAUTY. It all reminds me of our spiritual twin, we are connected physical-spirit and nothing separates us (except a thin veil) and that we (per Zeus, per the Dionysus mythology) will also be born again, rebirthed and are immortal.
