New Moon in Libra, October 19, 2017 – Chaos, Compassion and Earthly Angels

Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 12:12 pm PDT we have a New Moon in Libra. This is powerful and chaotic energy New Moon with both Sun and Moon at 26 degrees and 35 minutes are in exact opposition to Uranus at 26 degrees 31 minutes retrograde in Aries, in cardinal signs.  This will be a full packed package of manifesting energy in unexpected ways and within the context of tension of individual and relationships with others.  This New Moon in Libra is ruled by Venus, which she is also in Libra with emphasis on balance, her desire nature is harmonious and social energies that want to be expressed with others, but there is a huge opposite pull for chaos, rebellion or liberation from Uranus, with the ruler of Aries Mars at 7 degrees of Virgo 28 minutes.  A lightning bolt of divine perspective potentially.  Mars in Virgo is not as strong as Venus is in her domicile of Libra, so the feminine may prevail briefly in the social circle. But Mars in a T-square with Saturn and opposite Chiron has potential for words that hurt, damages that run deep, violence that may come first in biting words of defensive anger (Mars).

This also can be viewed from the perspective of social justice (Libra) with some liberating (Aries) or chaotic unseen outcome in the potentials. Surprise endings into new beginnings.  Mars in Virgo has the capacity to be quite nasty and critical if not monitored well.  Mars also is the co-ruler of Scorpio (along with Pluto) so there’s a real deep intimacy potential opening for talking about the relationships we’re in for our public life or work life that need to address some deep taboo subjects or issues.  It also has potential with Mercury and Jupiter in Scorpio to connect with others that have been wounded (Pluto/shadow) and finding common ground to be brave (Mars) to speak up finally (Mercury), which will have an effect to make space for deeper healing (Chiron/Pisces) that was not available before now.  We see this clearly in the #metoo we are seeing in volumes in social media, stories of sexual harassment and sexual assault that has happened to women and a few men too, but primarily women in this pulse of expression after the breaking news about Harvey Weinstein in Hollywood.  Jupiter leaving Libra and moving into Scorpio was the catalyst that opened the  energies into Scorpio for this deeper opening and discussion to actually happen, thank you Frank Clifford for giving us your perspectives on this in your recent post. How ironic that Hugh Hefner died right as Jupiter was leaving Libra in the final degrees opposite Uranus. It’s also synchronistic with Black Moon Lilith (archetype of the wild feminine, see my videos on the various Lilith and her mythology within our human experience) recently transiting over the Galactic Center about 26 Sagittarius when all this news broke on Harvey Weinstein with Saturn on her heels at 23 degrees.  It truly feels like a defining moment where we can go deeper into healing this dark part of our collective perceptions, thinking, traumas and experience. We are witnessing each other as we process our hurts, our unexpressed emotions that are coming up into the light now as we collectively speak our truth and open hearts hear the hurt and suffering that was hidden within us.  We have a long way to go.   It’s the beginning of healing for many and it will continue to go deeper as we deep dive into Scorpio with Jupiter expanding the matter and Mercury there too for a few weeks in the perceptions we have and how we talk about our experience.  We find peace once the sting is gone from the wound, that is possible if we can articulate it, experience our feelings and emotions that we weren’t able to with others about something that wounded us and then we can release it through spiritual practice such as forgiveness.  We have to do the actions required to actually heal, otherwise we’re risking the repeat.

Pluto is direct in Capricorn at 16 degrees 57 minutes still doing his job which is the deepest transformation.  I’ve heard it said it’s like watching the patriarchy die a slow death.  I don’t know if it’s that exactly, but dark, misogynist behavior seems to be getting more taboo and unacceptable.  Wouldn’t it be lovely to see it go down like how smoking in public went down?  Wouldn’t that be amazing to see over the next decade before the next Jupiter transit in Scorpio?  I’m hopeful.  There are deep changes still happening within the systems we know, governments and laws and governing organization will continue to go through the deepest transformation, or fall away as no longer sustainable in what is becoming, many of old forms that we’ve known are dying and space will open for what will come.

We’ve also gone through unimaginable violence recently with Las Vegas incident and too many others to mention, and struggle to review our values on these matters in America.  The subject will go even further with Jupiter in Scorpio exploring our thoughts, our beliefs and fears and how we handle this issue for our personal safety in our communities.  The investigations in Las Vegas will have the Scorpio probing and unrelenting energy with Mercury and Jupiter and the Sun soon to join them to shed light on the matter in greater detail.  Saturn in Sagittarius is moving forward through the end of this year until December 19th, still pushing on our spiritual convictions, boundaries and our foreign government relationships.  Mars at 28 degrees Virgo 7 minutes just recently passed an exact square to Saturn in Sagittarius and we can see this destructive combination especially in the fires in Northern California, Spain and Portugal too.  It’s quite devastating with so much loss and the number of death related to these fires.  Even though I don’t live in Northern California I was also indirectly impacted by the fires there that destroyed a place I go to in the spring and sometimes the fall for astrology retreats in Calistoga.  The Mountain Home Ranch suffered great losses and damage in the recent fires.  I am glad they will be rebuilding, but it is still quite sad for their losses.  I feel deeply for the owners of the ranch that is over 100 years old.  Chiron at 25 degrees Pisces 15 minutes retrograde is truly showing us Saturn even greater in its destruction at the T-square to the Mars and Chiron.  Chiron is the centaur known as the wounded healer.  Right now Chiron in Pisces may show up here in this configuration as great suffering, the loss can feel so overwhelming as if disconnected from God in a state of bewilderment and grief.  It can also take the form of a spiritual (Pisces) leader (Saturn) being lost as well, where the vitality (Mars) was lost and they surrendered into ultimate divine bliss (Pisces).  If you want to learn more about Chiron, seek out Melanie Reinhart’s books.  Chiron has a connection to long suffering in his mythology.  Doesn’t that appear to be true in what we are seeing right now?  Long suffering of women in the news, fires and violence with long suffering in their outcomes.  Chiron is the bridge between personal and transpersonal experiences of our human lives.  He is key, a bridge, connecting us between body and mind, consider him our mediator between these levels of consciousness!  Get Melanie’s book Saturn, Chiron and the Centaurs to understand how important he is in our cosmology and awakening consciousness.

Life ebbs and flows, with peaks and valleys over time we find our rhythm within our maturing and with nature.  We may appreciate life with greater depth and meaning when we experience the valleys with our hearts engaged.  When we experience suffering we are not alone.  We can engage with life through compassion and reaching out to be of service (healthy Mars/Virgo). We will find a richness otherwise lost if we’re not fully engaged in living, being and loving.   These challenging moments and astrological combinations really demand we show up, take action, take part in the conversation, reach out to our friends, family, and community, even strangers, to feel and know our connection to all of life.  We benefit from every action of kindness; it’s how we are wired.

Have you ever thought of your potential to be an earthly angel for someone having one of the worst days or moments of their lives?  Acts of unconditional love truly are where the rubber meets the road in life at the end of the day.  One small act of love can mean so much to one person, by what you say and the action you take to show someone love and kindness.  That’s how easy it is to be an earthly angel.  Bringing your candle of light when the world seems dark and scary for another is one of the greatest things we do for another from the heart.  I know I’ve wept from gratitude when I have had these encounters with others in my life.  Haven’t you too?  There are so many ways we can show up with love and support.  If you are steady in this moment and feeling good you have abundance and blessings to offer.  If you are in a valley of life right now, there are ways to open a little to see the earthly angels around you too, sometimes it’s only a little prayer, or a small little nugget of faith inside you that if you ask, even just inside yourself or written on a sticky note, “Help me see someone that holds light for me today,” I’ve experienced, and you may too, the delightful blessings of being shown exactly that which will uplift you.  And from that small act of faith you rise again, like a Phoenix (Scorpio).  Namaste.  Love to all.
